@AcademicChatter My experience with writing is that for every 1 hour spent actually writing, I probably spend about 5 hours staring at a page or needlessly moving paragraphs back and forth. Somehow I finished a dissertation using this approach, so find what works for you.

Eating at a Chicago style pizza place in a major American city center last night. Out of nowhere, we hear the bartender/owner loudly thwap a serving tray on the bar and see a large bug go flying across the floor. Not a cicada, as I first thought, but an XXL cockroach.

Bartender immediately brings out the bill (with 18% gratuity added for a table of 3) and mumbles vague apology. We finish up and pay. No sooner than getting the card back, a different server casually bends down over the tray and, over panicked warning cries, lifts the tray.

@PhD_Balance I play in a stringband. Bars, weddings, town events, etc. Because we book weeks or months in advance, I'm forced to schedule in times to practice and play. Sometimes it's stressful working around that, but I always enjoy my time with the band.
