I don’t know how to explain this, but Arsenal did not play any strong team during this run they had.
The only reason I’m seeing them winning the league is because every other team has not been consistent. They claim to be in their best form so far, comparing themselves to their invincible season or Chelsea 04/05 team, but u can’t win a struggling City’s team, lost to the worst Liverpool’s team in years, drew to a newly promoted Sunderland, and got dominated by the worst United’s team ever.
You come to say they beat Chelsea. Yes, but we know we are struggling. We know we have a defensive calamity, and we’re not raising our bars so high to win the league. Y’all believe otherwise about your team.
I have always said that they’ll start seeing the problem in their team when they start conceding goals. You are getting clean sheets. That’s great, but the question is how long will this go on for? how many games have you won convincingly with those clean sheets? By what margins? You want to win the league but u can’t outscore a struggling City and Chelsea team, you need to depend on set pieces to score goals. I am not saying set pieces are not part of the game, but y’all have to demand more from your team. It should be a plus, and not the other way round.
This Liverpool’s run of horrible form started after the first half of last season when they started conceding so much goals, but they thought they were good because they scored more. Now the problem continues because their most scoring player is having a bad season, and they can’t stop conceding.
Now if Arsenal can’t start creating chances and scoring more, I see them draw or lose some games when they start conceding 1-2 goals in some matches. Lots of mid-table epl teams can pull this Sunderland’s performance - Newcastle, Aston Villa, Brentford, etc., but they’ve all started the season poorly.
This is not even bantering. Come to think of it, Arsenal conceded least in the league last season, but scored 5 goals more than a Chelsea team that struggled to get into top 4, 5 more than a 17th place Tottenham team, 1 goal more than Newcastle, 3 more than Brighton and Brentford, 3 less than the worst City team in 8 years. Y’all don’t think you could have won the league if you scored more?
Now you’ve scored only one goal more than Man U and Tottenham, 2 more than Liverpool, 3 more than Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth. Y’all shouldn’t be in this conversation if you really want to win the league!
