We seek 2 post docs to join our group working on atmospheric methane removal (AMR) in trees. These exciting projects (👇🏼) seek to build on our recent @nature discovery of global AMR by trees. These projects combine flux msrmnts, global modelling & microbial ecology. Pls RT 🙏🏼
We begin the first set of soil sampling for soil isotopes and microbiology(DNA &RNA) for our lab experiment to set zero point which serve as our reference point for the experiment. @peatlandn2o@Kazmi_FahadAli@MikkEspenberg@KhRamita@LKuusemets
We have successfully started the first phase of our lab experiment. Our microcosms have been put to the climate chamber. Interesting times ahead with hopes of some valuable results. @peatlandn2o
Getting ready for our late summer lab experiment, which begins with getting peat. We will plant some birch saplings in bucket size microcosms and observe N-cycle via isotope and microbiome analysis. @peatlandn2o@Kazmi_FahadAli@unitartu
Had the pleasure of meeting with Prof. Vincent Gauci from University of Birmingham and we had a beautiful discussion on CH4 fluxes from tree stems and their impact on global budget.
@LiWeFor summerschool, we also have interviews with juniors, seniors, and professors. Just a 'snapshot behind the scenes' @Kazmi_FahadAli@unitartu oh, we are sooo lucky and happy with occasion, weather and location #pühajärve#Estonia
Concluding the second day @LiWeFor summerschool with junior researchers @kamilsardar and @Kazmi_FahadAli sharing their experiences during the training stays @KITKarlsruhe plus video impressions from field training in Quistococha/Peru @IiapPeru
truely excited ... Liwefor Living Lab summer school is starting already next week ... project partners from Europe, South America and Asia together, training, teaching, discussing highlights of wetlands forest research @KITKarlsruhe@unitartu@helsinkiuni@LiWeFor
Upmost level lectures continue @LiWeFor summerschool. Prof. Ivan Marmarella about eddy covariance technique and Dr. Anuliina Putkinen (both @helsinkiuni ) about stunning opportunities but also limitations in the microbial CH4 cycling
We continue @LiWeFor summerschool with outstanding contributions from TROPI (Malaysia) represented by Dr. Sangok, and new bacterial CH4 processes in boreal lake systems by Dr. Khanongnuch, postdoctoral researcher @unitartu. hot sessions, content+temperature wise
The first day @LiWeFor summerschool ends with career steps/paths: most valuable study visits to both partners @helsinkiuni@RRanniku and Laura Kuusemets, concluded by independent researcher's careers- MarieCurie and ERC - what an exciting day close-up !
Refreshed and highly motivated we continue @LiWeFor summerschool, swapping from global to micro perspectives @unitartu@helsinkiuni @lukas_kohl . Excitedly listening audience, waiting to raise their questions 😎
Researchers' hunger for knowledge never pauses @liwefor summerschool 🤗 wider insights into N-trace flux measurements (@KITKarlsruhe, Prof. Butterbach-Bahl) and deep-insight experiences from Peruvian 'aguache' peatlands (@IiapPeru, Prof. L. Fachin) #aguaje
