A few raw showerthoughts on MvX/EGLD in 2026
(i.e. things that can 10x/100x EGLD value creation & accrual)
First. Less is more. We intend to be significantly more aggressive and intentional in saying no. 99 of no's every single day, make a big yes truly possible. This is hard to grasp at first, but rapidly compounds once put in action. This is how we enter 2026.
Second. Speed, action, agency and directional alignment matter 100x more in the age of AI. We are prioritizing launching fast. Iterating on a few ideas, bringing them to life, and putting them in the hands of users. Letting users be our thermostat for what's needed, loved and valued. Ideally, I would want us to end the year with one cool milestone launched every quarter. But maybe there is a good possibility to push that limit to one cool milestone every month. Or maybe even faster.
Third. A few (very few) major directional milestones for 2026:
(a) Supernova - this is without a doubt the biggest milestone for the network. A complete reinvention, to put MvX at the very frontier of speed, scalability, and UX. Delivering this, taking it across the line, will be like giving birth to a new chapter for the network. This is our number one priority for the year. Why? Because this changes everything for the network. Capabilities, competitive edge, monetization potential, added value for users, builders and investors. Supernova, makes Mvx once again, objectively, one of the most advanced and competitive networks in the world. For speed, scalability UX (and decentralization/censorship resistance).
(b) Zero knowledge privacy - ZK primitives embedded at protocol level in MvX adds a completely new dimension. Privacy is a foundational necessity for users, and society. ZK is the means to make this a reality. Private EGLD transactions and private smart contract interactions open a completely new set of possibilities for a network that is instantaneous, and remarkable in UX. A money that is uncensorable, private, and programmable, is a money that has substantial expected value. Making this set of properties a viable network reality, marks a material uptick in the value of EGLD itself.
(c) A major focus shift on the app layer - we are moving toward a few, monetizable, and enshrined finance primitives that can generate and accrue material value for EGLD. The big lie shared by many across the crypto space is that you need hundreds of apps, and tens of thousands of builders to succeed big with a network. But the hard and refreshing truth is that you only need *one app* that users truly love, use, and pay for, to break through the ocean of irrelevance and take the network to a new level of attention and adoption. Now, just pause, and think about that for a second. (!) Drastically compressing the application surface space initially, to develop a niche monopoly first, is a rather contrarian bet that can make all the difference. But the immediate and compounding gains in focus, speed, and efficiency could become a surprising turning point. What are those primitives, how do we create or get to them, how do we align and move lightning-fast? This is some good food for thought, that is the subject for an entirely separate post.
(d) AI built into everything - AI has been eating software for a few decades now. But the rate of change at which it happened in 2024 / 2025, and will continue to accelerate in front of our eyes in 2026, will be astounding. I’ve been stating a variation of this for the last 2-3 years now, and we’ve indeed had a number of AI SDKs, AI services and AI applications launched on this front during the last 2 years. 2026, will feel like AI is being gradually merged into everything we are doing. The effects of that will be a 10x-100x improvement in builder market expansion, a 10x-100x improvement in number ideas brought to life, a 10x-100x improvement in time to value (more effective reframing of time to market). Applying AI to lower barriers to entry and increase distribution speed, bring ideas to life drastically faster, and generate more and faster value with them; that is what 2026 and the next years will feel like.
The times are changing. While markets have been especially challenging for everything crypto related, I believe (a) Supernova will mark a new chapter with dramatic shift in UX and performance for the network, (b) privacy embedded at protocol level will open a new set of use cases for users and builders, (c) a few enshrined, monetizable and EGLD aligned primitives will give a new breath of fresh air and focus to the network and ecosystem, (d) AI embedded at every level of the experience, starting with the builder level, will unlock a vastly larger builder market, accelerate number of ideas brought to life, and improve time to value and monetization on them. Executing and shipping to bring these ideas to life, is where we'll spend the year.
It’s 2026. We can just build things. With focus, speed, and intention.
Making them truly accessible and relevant far beyond crypto, to the rest of the world around us.
Supernova!
What this sets up for 2026
• Supernova: a new genesis moment for the network with instant, hyper-scalable execution
• ZK-enabled privacy
• New DeFi primitives designed for composability at scale
• A tech stack designed to become the fiber network of finance
• AI-native use cases across the network
The markets are hard on all altcoins, $EGLD included.
I hope the #MultiversX team & the foundation will ride through this brutal market conditions & emerge out the other end as "the chain" that kept building no matter what.
#EGLD
Is it possible to scale to millions of TPS with 80ms finality on a decentralized network?
Most people would say no.
The physics don't work. The latency alone makes it impossible.
Yesterday's Supernova demo proved them wrong.
And here's the part nobody's talking about yet. ⬇️
———
MultiversX's Supernova upgrade just had its first live demo yesterday and hit numbers that even surprised the team.
With a goal of taking block time from 6s down to 600ms with instant finality, they showed that 600ms is just the starting point.
Reaching 400ms and even 200ms is very possible.
But wait, I thought you said 80ms?
Let me break down what this means.
———
With the full release of Supernova dropping in the next couple months, MultiversX's block time will be lowered to 600ms.
Currently 6 seconds.
Soon 600 milliseconds.
That means a new block with transactions will be formed and finalized every 600ms.
Those transactions are truly final too. Since the last update, Andromeda, MultiversX released single slot finality.
No more waiting for confirmations like is required for most blockchains.
Confirmations? Huh?
Ok let's take a step back.
———
When you submit a transaction, it is seen and confirmed by a group of validators.
In order for a chain to fully verify and confirm a tx is legit, it often takes multiple rounds or blocks.
Here's how MultiversX compares to many major L1:
📊 Ethereum
Block time: ~12s
Finality: 13 minutes (64 confirmations)
⚡ Solana
Block time: ~400ms
Finality: ~13 seconds (32 confirmations)
🔷 Cardano
Block time: ~20s
Finality: 1-2 minutes
🔴 Polkadot
Block time: ~6s
Finality: ~30 seconds
🟢 Algorand (one of the few with instant finality)
Block time: ~2.8s
Finality: Instant, no confirmations
⭕ Tron
Block time: ~3s
Finality: ~1 minute (19-20 confirmations)
⚫ MultiversX (with Supernova)
Block time: 600ms → 200ms possible
Finality: Instant, same shard
Cross-shard: ~1.5s average
———
See the problem?
Everyone else is measuring finality in seconds or minutes.
MultiversX is measuring in milliseconds.
And they're not even pushing the limits yet.
———
But that's not even the really impressive part.
Currently we are witnessing over 500ms of idle time on each block. But what does that mean?
When a round begins, a leader is selected with VRF (provable randomness), leader bundles the txs, 2/3rd +1 of validators sign, and the block is now irreversible, aka final.
This is taking on average 82ms right now:
⏱️ 1-5ms → Leader Selection
⏱️ 10-40ms → Voting
⏱️ 10-40ms → Signature aggregation
Total: ~82ms to FULL finality
That leaves 500ms+ of idle time.
Translation? The network can go even faster.
———
Let's touch on a few things here.
First, the signature aggregation and broadcast is where some magic happens. Any honest node can aggregate signatures, verify >2/3 voting, and submit.
The Andromeda release introduced ECP which allows any validator to finalize the block, NOT just the selected leader. This removes single leader failure which is far bigger than most realize.

Second, with Supernova, execution now happens in parallel across nodes POST-FINALITY.
This is where typical network latency comes into play which currently is around 120ms for global distribution.
———
So what's the big takeaway here?
The team set a goal of reducing block time from 6 seconds to 600ms and far outperformed even their own expectations.
MultiversX will soon see block times of 400ms or even as low as 200ms.
That is on top of instant finality so we are talking fully final intra-shard txs of possibly 200ms and cross-shard of ~500ms.
All on top of the first fully sharded chain that is capable of scaling to millions of TPS on minimal hardware, not server-grade machines.
A Samsung smartphone is currently validating blocks on the network to give you an idea of what's possible.
No other network can come close to touching that that I am aware of.
This is what is needed for a truly decentralized and scalable global network.
This is MultiversX.
“Sell everything. Walk away. Declare it dead.”
That’s the easy take. Building is harder.
That’s usually how it sounds right before something important happens.
While the noise is loud, the protocol engineering team just pushed a real breakthrough:
~80ms block finality, running full sharding, live.
That’s an order-of-magnitude improvement in speed, at internet scale, without compromising decentralization.
-----
Building something truly new in tech, from scratch, at this scale, is brutally hard.
Building something that has never existed before means constantly rethinking fundamentals, technical and operational.
Engineering is not the only place where iteration happens.
Organizations must evolve too.
As part of this evolution, we are restructuring parts of the organization.
We are simplifying, refocusing, and increasing execution efficiency across the board.
Fewer distractions. Clearer ownership. More energy where it compounds the most.
This is about going deeper on what truly matters.
That’s what real focus looks like.
-----
None of this diminishes the value of the work done so far, quite the opposite.
I want to express deep gratitude and respect to everyone who contributed, experimented, built, and pushed boundaries during this chapter.
What exists today is only possible because of that effort.
-----
The goal remains unchanged from day one:
to build a protocol that redefines what is possible at internet scale.
Markets move in cycles. Narratives come and go.
But execution compounds.
We will continue to redesign, refactor, and push forward, with renewed focus, and absolute commitment to finishing what we started.
-----
If this feels uncomfortable, it’s because progress usually is.
Adapt, adjust, and push harder.

Supernova before Christmas?🎄🎁
First implementation is up.
Raw performance, real telemetry.
Block production pipeline:
avg block finality ~80ms
https://t.co/vRZWrDU0TD
First million processed at BCW.
Not a single failed tx on-chain.
VeroPay infra holding perfectly: every vendor, every user, any payment type, every second.
@MultiversX underneath it all.
For many teams, @MultiversX is home: solid infrastructure, a resilient community, and serious builders.
Through OmniSet, that home base is set to connect into our universal liquidity & settlement layer built on FastSet.
EGLD and MultiversX-native assets will be participating in a shared, verifiable liquidity fabric that can reach other ecosystems without sacrificing speed or security.
As this integration rolls out, MultiversX projects will be able to keep building where they are, while their liquidity operates at a broader scale.
Supernova is a technological wonder.
It is a complete reimagining of the entire Elrond/MultiversX architecture. Taking blockchains to a new frontier of scalability, speed, and decentralization.
Achieving an unmatched performance, across key defining metrics.
What this results in, is a true magic moment for users, builders, and investors. A deep realization that user experience, that performance, just feels magical. And it just works.
You tap on a transaction. And it just works. Instantly. Fully done.
Yet for that transaction to complete, it does a few things, faster than you can think about them. Package and order data, communicate it with many node parties, and travel around the world in half of a blink of an eye. Going through a complex process of validation and agreement (consensus). And getting executed in a beautiful way for the user. All of this in an *instant*.
That is what a breakthrough looks like. How it feels for users, to almost live in the future, once again.
This is what we are relentlessly working on.
This new breakthrough revives the crypto dream. A new and better form of money. A new and better financial system. Gradually reimagining different financial services on top.
A fiber network for finance. Accessible to anyone, anywhere.
Humans, and machines alike. This is Supernova.
