Many people use anxiety to motivate themselves. I believe a better way is possible, through
- Habits
- Meditation
- Energy Management
- Smart use of environment
- A reliable task management system
- Dopamine Detox
- Enjoyment and Meaning
- Optimism

@paulg The revolution of LLMs is that they are much more general than previous AIs like facial recognition. In that way one might argue that something like GPT2 was already an AGI, just not human level.
@jakozloski Would be curious if the same applies for bodies. E.g. Low waist to hip ratio is quite a universal preference I understand, but BMI preference might vary more
@RichDecibels Using gpt pro for research on a daily basis. A lower effort model like gpt thinking I would not trust though.
Singularity arguments mostly come not from current general capabilities, but the coding and math capabilities speeding up AI research
Two pillars to a life filled with ease:
1) "It is what it is" (Acceptance)
2) "Fuck it" (Growth through playful experimentation, without clinging to an outcome)
@culturaltutor Isn't this architecture fashion as much as cost pressure? Compared to land scarcity in London, a slightly more interesting paintjob or some art can't be that expensive. They could also use a warmer lightsource, should cost about the same
There is synergy between sex and emotional support, that would be my first principle reasoning towards dating beyond casual sex at least. It is possible to self soothe or get emotional support from friends or therapists, but nothing is quite effective as a good romantic connection in my experience. First principles for monogamy are trickier. Many arguments around depth would then also point towards only having one friend. The strongest arguments imo are 1) children 2) society in many ways is built for couples 3) some people are wired towards monogamy
@Aella_Girl I think Singapore tries to do this in a way, and certainly has good outcomes on many dimensions. Paying public servants well is a game changer in itself. At the same time, maybe it is not a coincidence that the place feels quite emotionally repressed
@bastianCx@Aella_Girl I assume this is about wanting to spread their genes. Maybe because it makes them feel like an evolutionary success, or because they believe they are so good the world should have more of them
@emollick In parallel we got a new modern problem with engagement optimized social media, I think that overcompensates the perceived sense of the world getting better
@ArtirKel At the risk of telling you things you’ve tried: 1) putting attention on the tension and moving / shaking / making noises in ways that feel intuitive, starting small if you feel frozen 2) alternatively, putting attention and burning it off in the gym, say on an elliptical trainer
@nxthompson@erikbryn This always bothered me about the arc AGI benchmark. Focusing so much on where humans are better than AI. But delivering value through never before existing capabilities takes more creativity than cost cutting through automation.
