@JoeGoodberry You're better than this. To say I've not watched 1 second implies it's beneath you or not worth a try. Like what you like, but there's been some really fun games if your into soccer. The idea of a global competition every 4 years for one historic sport is cool on its own merit.
You could easily have the 2038 World Cup with these cities hosting — all of which weren’t involved this time — and it would be magnificent, with largely superb facilities:
Baltimore
Buffalo
Charlotte
Chicago (or Hammond, Ind.?)
Cincinnati
Cleveland (to-be built stadium)
Denver (to-be-built stadium)
Detroit
Edmonton
Indianapolis
Las Vegas
Minneapolis
Montreal
Nashville (under-construction stadium)
New Orleans
Phoenix
Pittsburgh
Tampa
Washington (to-be-built stadium)
And you’d have an equal cultural experience. Imagine the world experiencing the wings at Gabriel’s Gate, green chile in Denver, square pizza in Detroit, Primanti Brothers in Pittsburgh or deciding between Gold Star and Skyline chili in Cincinnati. The merits of Tampa-style Cubanos (with salami). Half-smokes at Ben’s Chili Bowl in D.C. Pit beef BBQ in Baltimore. I could go on.
Yeah, there’s a lot that’s messed-up here. But that’s the world. The things that matter — the humanity, the food, the aspects that can connect us as a species and build bonds — they’re strong.
You've got to give Pochettino his dues, honestly. This USA side are playing some absolutely beautiful football at this World Cup. Disciplined, brave, and blistering on the counter. Their shape without the ball, their movement between the lines, the way they spring forward with intent… it's proper watchable stuff. You find yourself wanting to watch them again and again. They could go far, really far. Huge respect to the USMNT. Making a real statement.
In my lifetime, China lifted 850 million people out of poverty, while the US created one trillionaire. It is clear as day that socialism is the key to our future.
“Oh Balogun is just playing for the U.S. because he couldn’t make the England squad”…Folks, that is the entire promise of our nation.
Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.
And then we’ll beat your ass with them.
Why is one county in Ohio receiving federal grant money to over-police something that citizens of the entire state of Ohio overwhelmingly voted in support of?
@elClubLucha Put the phrase on a shirt and put the AEW belt on the man. Even in his first AEW run, his wrestling has always been upper tier. He makes the best of every opportunity win or lose.
Ohioans, part of your $600 million in tax dollars just went to the University of Tennessee
Jimmy straight up stole from you and gave it to his home state
@ChrisSpire93971@davemeltzerWON It's certainly a subjective opinion, but it's from someone whose studied and reported on wrestling more than any other human alive...
Excalibur sighed off of the first Dynamite of Pride Month with : "FIX YOUR HEARTS OR DIE! THIS IS ALL ELITE WRESTLING!"
Which is a peaks reference where a character played by the late David Lynch said it it while standing up for a transgender colleague!
I'm pleased to invite @Wemby to our second Commission on Government Efficiency hearing on Wednesday June 10th 5-8pm, where we'll be asking the public for their thoughts on how government can run better. Would love to have you there for the whole time!
New York City just made history. 🗽
Proud of my friend @EdwinRaymondNYC 🙏🏾
Mayor Zohran Mamdani has appointed Edwin Raymond, former NYPD Lieutenant, whistleblower, and author of An Inconvenient Cop, as the new Sheriff of New York City.
Edwin Raymond didn’t just survive the system. He fought it from the inside. He led the largest civil rights lawsuit in NYPD history challenging illegal arrest quotas. He exposed racial profiling when it was career suicide to do so. And he wrote the book — literally — on what real accountability in policing looks like.
Now he’s running the office.
This is what it looks like when a mayor chooses justice over politics. Mayor Mamdani called him “principled, courageous and deeply committed to justice” and the record backs every word of that.
The city is watching. The country is watching. And for once, the right person is in the room. 👊🏾
