𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐫, 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐮𝐭𝐲.

Nigeria's fight against Boko Haram has claimed the lives of tens of thousands of civilians and members of the Armed Forces. Entire communities have been destroyed, millions displaced, and countless families continue to mourn loved ones. Yet, even after more than a decade of insurgency, questions about the group's origins continue to resurface.

One of the latest voices to reignite this debate is 𝑯𝒂𝒋𝒊𝒚𝒂 𝑵𝒂𝒋𝒂'𝒂𝒕𝒖 𝑴𝒐𝒉𝒂𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒅, who alleged:

This is a serious allegation. It has circulated widely in Nigerian political discourse over the years in different forms, but it remains an allegation. It has not been established by a court of law, and 𝑨𝒍𝒊 𝑴𝒐𝒅𝒖 𝑺𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒇𝒇 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅𝒍𝒚 𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒓 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑩𝒐𝒌𝒐 𝑯𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒎, maintaining that the accusations against him are false.

Nevertheless, statements such as these raise an uncomfortable reality: Nigerians are still searching for the complete truth about how Boko Haram emerged and how it evolved into one of Africa's deadliest terrorist organizations.

If influential political figures, former government officials, security insiders, and other witnesses have information capable of shedding light on this dark chapter of Nigeria's history, then such information deserves to be investigated thoroughly and impartially.

For the families of soldiers who died on the battlefield, for the schoolchildren abducted from their classrooms, for communities wiped out by terrorist attacks, and for millions displaced from their ancestral homes, the search for truth is not about politics. It is about justice.

Nigeria owes it to every victim of terrorism to establish an accurate historical record. If there were failures, negligence, political miscalculations, or deliberate actions that contributed to the rise of insurgency, history should document them honestly, based on credible evidence.

The fight against terrorism cannot be won by military operations alone. It also requires accountability, transparency, and the courage to confront uncomfortable questions wherever they may lead.

The blood of innocent Nigerians demands nothing less.

𝑴𝒂𝒋𝒐𝒓-𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝑹𝒐𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒕 𝑨𝒅𝒆𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒂 𝑨𝒅𝒆𝒃𝒂𝒚𝒐 (9 March 1928 – 8 March 2017) was one of Nigeria's foremost military pioneers, elder statesmen, and administrators. Widely respected for his professionalism, calm leadership, and commitment to national unity, he occupies a distinguished place in Nigerian history as one of the earliest indigenous officers of the Nigerian Army, the country's first indigenous Chief of Army Staff, Military Governor of the Western Region during one of Nigeria's most turbulent periods, and later Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy.

His military career spanned nearly three decades, beginning during the colonial era and continuing through Nigeria's independence, the Congo peacekeeping mission, the military coups of the 1960s, and the Nigerian Civil War. Beyond the battlefield, Adebayo became known as a bridge-builder, an advocate of reconciliation, and one of the most respected Yoruba leaders of his generation.

Even after retiring from military service, he remained active in national affairs, serving as a respected elder statesman and President of the Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE), where his voice carried considerable influence on issues of national unity, federalism, and good governance.

He was born into a disciplined Yoruba family. His father worked in the Public Works Department, a profession that required frequent transfers across different towns in the old Western Region. As a result, young Robert experienced life in several communities during his childhood, exposing him to different cultures and strengthening his adaptability from an early age.

The Igbo are also among Africa's largest ethnic groups, with a rich cultural heritage, complex traditional institutions, thriving commerce, and enduring customs that have influenced the history of West Africa.

At the same time, it is important to note that 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 "𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭" 𝐢𝐧 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐞. was born on 17 June 1944 in 𝑲𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒍-𝑩𝒂𝒈𝒖𝒅𝒐, located in present-day 𝑩𝒂𝒈𝒖𝒅𝒐 𝑳𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑮𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑨𝒓𝒆𝒂 𝒐𝒇 𝑲𝒆𝒃𝒃𝒊 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆, northwestern Nigeria.

He grew up during the closing years of British colonial administration, a period when Northern Nigeria placed great emphasis on discipline, community leadership, and public service. These values would later shape his military career and administrative philosophy.

Raised in a traditional Fulani-Hausa environment, Kaliel developed a reputation for humility, diligence, and personal discipline from an early age. Although relatively little has been publicly documented about his parents and childhood, available records consistently portray him as someone whose upbringing emphasized integrity, loyalty, and service to society.
