@Shapalicious I heard in that meeting:
-Living across the street from a park with a pickleball court is a fate worse than death. It's practically Guantanamo bay.
-There are illegal raves all summer long sun up to sun down in Cheeseman, permanently ruining the historic pavilion.
@sarahparady Tack on ending occupancy limits. Any nuisance created by the number of people in a dwelling is already addressed by other laws and solutions with functionally $0 implementation costs can be done on shorter time horizons.
@MFBlakey@ShannonLovesD10 set the path that candidates have followed on No on 20 and rent stabilization. There's no doubting that after tonight. She has set the strongest policy tone in the D10 race.
@BenHN99@DenverWestword I was there the night a drunk girl jumped on the statue of the Italian guy on the patio at Don's and broke his arm off. I'm willing to tell it all
@kcrowe The system always protects the hand-in-glove relationship between regulators (ex-bankers) and bankers (future regulators.) What is happening in the fog of war is the public is being told this is an expansion of FDIC to protect depositors. It's a mutli-billion $ BAILOUT to BANKS.
@kcrowe The monetary system is poorly understood because it is so deliberately opaque, but this take is fundamentally correct. What the fed did today nominally backstopped $25bn in commercial bank loss, but commercial banks have unrealized losses of ~$620bn. It's NEVER about middle class
@javier_mabrey Whenever you're being told that it's necessary to give commercial banks billions of dollars to protect the middle class-
PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION.
Because there is a 100% chance you are being lied to. Handled. Finessed. Every. Single. Time.
@javier_mabrey You'd need in background on how the fed system creates the cantillon effect wherein all of the stabilization of financial markets is accomplished with central intervention on bank balance sheets which always creates cheap money for the already wealthy, but use this rule of thumb:
@AlbusBrooks@ShannonLovesD10 @DenCityCouncil @MayorHancock Certainly. And as an individual who has been involved in the election as a debate moderator, I am certain you are committed to avoiding even the appearance of impropriety, which is why I look forward to your diligent application of this standard to supporters of all candidates.
@ShannonLovesD10 Shannon can step into any room and say "I don't think there should be police any more, I don't think it's actually helping."
First of all, that's punk rock as shit. Second of all, if you think arguing over whether having 5% more or less police matters, I don't think you get it.
@urarowdy1 @Conrad_Swanson @denverpost @Conrad_Swanson will the Post have a reporter at tomorrow's District 10 debate? The tickets have strangely been made very difficult to obtain and I'd love to be able to count on some coverage of the substance of the exchange
@urarowdy1 @Conrad_Swanson @denverpost I was there, I don't think it was staged. Chris seemed pretty upset, and understandably so.
That said, I hope this isn't the totality of the coverage we get of the substance of the debates in District 10. A lot more happened that night that matters to voters than this bit.
@sarahparady Here's the ambitious answer that doesn't require negotiation with the police union- go line by line through the DRMC and scratch literally every law that isn't necessary. We have elements of the criminal code on the books that were written in the 19th century. It just snowballs.
@shoffman239 LOVE the Savoy! Intimate venue. Great for feeling the emotion of the production. You just sold a couple tickets Mr Campbell, courtesy of one Shannon Hoffman
