The themes that The Wire explores over the course of the show are still relevant even today. Personally, there isn’t a show like it and never will be. Mad Men is great but it isn’t The Wire
Mad Men and the Wire are both great, but as time passes the Wire feels more like a product of the 2000s (with great memes) whereas Mad Men is perhaps more timeless.

@CombatCr I did mate. I didn’t enjoy it as much as I did with the likes of Blood Meridian, Suttree, or All The Pretty Horses but still very much a worthwhile read
@CombatCr I think I might be on a similar count as you. I’ve still got to read his first two books (Orchard Keeper and Outer Dark) and his last two. As great as his other works are, none quite compare to Blood Meridian
@CombatCr What Benoit did was unforgivable. But back in the day, he was one of my favourites to watch. Recently went back and watched his match with Kurt Angle at the 2003 Royal Rumble and it’s phenomenal
Started reading Clockers by Richard Price and came across this gem of a reference that was in season 3 of The Wire. One for @Ziggys_Duck to appreciate.

Decided to finally read Blood Meridian based on the recommendations from some of the guys from The Fight Site and it’s easily one of the best books I’ve ever read. Looking to reading more of Cormac McCarthy’s work
