The income tax personal allowance (£12,570) and the higher income tax rate (40% over £50k) will be frozen until 2028. Tax band freezes are seen as stealth tax increases as people will be pulled into them as they receive pay rises, even those just in line with inflation.
The additional tax rate, which is currently 45% tax on earnings over £150,000, will have a reduced threshold of £125,140. This means those earning over £125k will now pay 45% tax on those earnings rather than 40%
