Coaches and teammates have raved about Tanner Heckel's development this spring.
The rising sophomore is working on patience and eyes while working at corner.
My story from WCIA News at 10 last night:

A year ago Tanner Heckel was playing 8-man football at Lyndon HS in Kansas.
Now, he's making a major impact on special teams in the Big Ten.
I asked #Illini DB coach Corey Parker about his progression today.

BREAKING: Donald Trump announces that he will ban taxes on overtime work if elected president to incentivize hard workers.
"I am also announcing that as part of our additional tax cuts, we will end all taxes on overtime."
Under the plan, anyone who works over 40 hours a week would not be taxed on the hours over 40 for any given week.
"The people who work overtime are among the hardest working citizens in our country and for too long, no one in Washington has been looking out for them."
"They're police officers, nurses, factory workers, construction workers, truck drivers and machine operators."
"It's time for the working man and woman to finally catch a break."
A unique piece of tonight’s game: Lyndon, Kansas native Tanner Heckel celebrates a win against the Jayhawks.
True freshman with Illinois beats the team from his home state.
Sports in Kansas 2A Boys Basketball Player of the Year
Tanner Heckel, Lyndon, Sr.
Heckel is likely the top three-sport senior athlete in the state of Kansas. Before he earned all-classes Top 5 in basketball this year, he earned Top 11 football honors in the fall after scoring 72 touchdowns in leading Lyndon to the state title and has a full-ride scholarship next year to play defensive back at Division I Illinois. He scored 19.6 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 3.0 apg, 3.3 spg in leading Lyndon to a state runner-up finish. Heckel is also a multiple time state champion in track and field. Heckel scored 1,549 points in his career (three years at Inman, senior year at Lyndon). He was a four-time first team all-league pick and a three-time all-state pick in basketball and football. Heckel is one of the biggest freak athletes we've covered in a while. Featuring these marks as a junior last year: 24'+ long jump, 10.96 FAT 100, 42" vertical and should throw in the 180-190' range in the javelin, plus be in the 46 range in the triple jump this spring. #sportsinkansas
