@JcpsElemEla Who determines whether or not students receive their PSP accommodations on Reading MAP testing? It's really hard to use the data for our ML students when they aren't receiving their native oral language support.
Today one of my students sounded out the word “sorry” and wrote it “sarry” and you know what?
Honestly, I think Canadians are right. Were saying it wrong.
We work hard every day week to meet our goal of 12 units on Lexia. One student worked extra hard to meet his goal because he’d missed a day of school, but he didn’t give up!
I don’t have any kids of my own so my parents call my students their grandkids. In turn, my students call them “school grandma/grandpa”
My kids earned a popsicle treat from our school as a reward. They asked if they can wait until Thurs to share with my parents 😭

Hello friends! I am starting my yearly Book Fairy drive. My goal is to send home (at least) four books with my students this year. The more funds we raise the more books they take home!

"One ironical consequence of the drive for so-called higher standards in schools is that the children are too busy to think."

I think every educator should read Troublemakers. The second read through was even more eye opening than the first now that I’m a 1st grade teacher. I see Marcus and Zora in so many of my students.
Thanks again for the recommend @AlexSVenet

I love this time of year in the WBT community because I get to see all of the living legend celebrations!
I didn’t have any last year but I’m so close this year with a few kiddos.
Today that magic moment happened, where a kid looked at a sentence they’ve never seen before, read it fluently, froze, then looked at me, “I just read that by myself?”
Yes, baby, you did 💜💜

Reading Troublemakers hurts my heart. They refer to children at school who have trouble as canaries struggling to breathe. I look at some of my students and it's all I see.
I’m trying to find some special rainbow sparkly paper for our final level in #WBT. I’m not finding anything. It might just be white card stock and just special stickers. 🤔 Trying to make it extra special
