America’s tower climbers & telecom crews are some of the best and hardest working people you can meet.
I’m pleased to see that Verizon has agreed to changes that will benefit these workers. 💪
This week, I visited a communications tower with @NATEsafety and Mississippi member companies. One of my top priorities with @senatecommerce has been to expand broadband access to rural areas, and it was an honor to receive the 2022 NATE Legislative Champion Award this year.
Three years ago today, a NATE delegation participated in a White House 5G event hosted by POTUS and @AjitPai ….a great day honoring the men and women who build and deploy America’s communications infrastructure! @BrendanCarrFCC@NathanLeamerDC@mrtoddjw@telecom_jim
Last year, I visited Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to make a pitch with @NATEsafety for @MGCCC to stand up a tower climber program— good paying, high-demand jobs.
Today, they’ve announced a $1.7M grant to launch a tower climber program at no cost to participants.💪
Today I also participated in a roundtable with Gulf Coast business leaders with @SenatorWicker to discuss economic development on the Gulf Coast.
@CommerceGov will use every resource available to help all Americans #BuildBackBetter.

Wrapped #Carrvisit with a trip to @DixieEPA in Laurel, MS. They are making great progress in their efforts to provide high speed internet to their customers. This project wouldn’t be possible without state CARES and federal RDOF funds. Thanks for having us! @BrendanCarrFCC
