Today in Rome, I met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese @AlboMP. We discussed defense support for Ukraine and cooperation within the Coalition of the Willing. Our conversation also covered the negotiations in Istanbul, increasing pressure on Russia, and which specific sanctions could compel the Russian Federation to stop setting conditions for an unconditional ceasefire.
I’m grateful for Australia’s comprehensive support, for the Abrams tanks that are helping our warriors defend Ukraine. It is a good thing that we have allies from different continents. Together we can truly bring the current situation closer to peace by exerting pressure on Russia.
Free trade means more jobs and a stronger economy.
That’s why we’re working towards a free trade agreement with the European Union.
Today I met with EU Commission President @vonderleyen to discuss trade, and our work to support global peace and security.
A gas exploration drilling rig has appeared within sight of one of Australia’s most loved and iconic natural wonders, the 12 Apostles on the Great Ocean Road. @EmmaShortis went to take a look.
Today I had the great honour of being sworn in as the Minister for Housing, Homelessness and Cities.
I thank the PM for the opportunity to serve and am grateful to take on the Cities portfolio in addition to Housing and Homelessness.
Housing is a life-defining challenge for millions of Australians.
It's a problem a generation in the making, but having been given the opportunity to build on the foundations laid in our first term, I'm confident that we can make a significant impact.
We'll do that by making it easier to buy a home of your own, by making renting fairer and by building more homes right across our beautiful country.
As a Labor Government, housing is core business.
It's a huge privilege and a great responsibility, and I'm looking forward to getting on with the job.
Liberal MP Hollie Hughes has launched an extraordinary attack on Liberal MP Angus Taylor! So, they can't even stay on-task and united while in Opposition. Who would want them back in govt?! 🙄 #auspol
Thank you, Hotham.
I’m deeply grateful for the chance to keep serving you in our federal parliament — it’s an honour I never take for granted.
And to every volunteer who gave their time, energy and heart to this campaign— thank you.
True believers across Hotham gave up their time because they believe in a better future.
Now let’s get to work.
Fascinated to see who the Libs choose as next leader. Will it be the woman who added an extra letter to her name for numerology reasons, the man who once described Europe as a ‘country’, or the man who proposed taxing a black market product.
They really are spoilt for choice
Thank you President @ZelenskyyUa for the call and warm congratulations this evening.
Australia remains steadfast in our support of the Ukrainian people and our commitment to a just and lasting peace for Ukraine. 🇦🇺🇺🇦
Congratulations to the PM and the ALP on an historic election win over the weekend. A big moment for the country. Here’s to progress, fairness, and a bit more support for the folks who tell our stories through the arts.
@AlboMP@MahaliaBarnes
The idea that Angus Taylor should lead the Liberals is absurd. His colleagues call him a lazy policy lightweight & there remain serious questions about his integrity.
The Wharf Revue's Jonathan Biggins encapsulates "Angus Taylor Swift" perfectly 👇.

Jim Chalmers says Angus Taylor shouldn’t be in contention as next Lib leader after a disastrous campaign performance
“It would be extraordinary if Angus Taylor was rewarded with a promotion after the diabolical contribution that he made to this history-making Coalition defeat”💥
@ZelenskyyUa@AlboMP We all rightly stand beside you with you and support every single one of your people in their democratic rights. You are a hero, scholar and a gentleman sir.
After every election we should be thankful for our system of #democracy in #Australia and remind ourselves we live in a truly great country; that we have an independent and impartial #aec, and that Australians are smart, sensible and usually get things right. #auspol
