@Hancock2001 It’s bizarre to me how much bashing London gets in the UK! No city better combines culture, history, business, and so much more and yet quite a lot of the UK rolls their eyes at it and argues not a penny more should be spent on it.
@BMJYorston Thought this sitting on an 11 hour flight today! Something about being able to totally detach and disconnect and not having any choice about it at all.
And then the excitement of getting off and being able to let friends and family know you’ve arrived!

It is incredibly depressing that less than a month in to a Labour government, the conversation on HS2 has moved from will they take it to Manchester to will they scrap the Euston section.
Alarmingly short term thinking and reminiscent on the recent Tory approach.
Public sector investment is a good thing, polls show the public support it, and ending HS2 at Old Oak Common would be ludicrous.
Given that so much of the Chancellor’s plan rests on creating growth, it’s odd that a policy so at odds with that is being pursued.

There’s something fitting about the fact that the night before my Oxford interview I watched one of the first test flights of this, and now almost 4 years later, this is happening just an hour and a half after I’ve finished finals.
