I’m a criminal justice reformer running for Sheriff of Sacramento County, seeking to provide the safety, integrity and leadership our community deserves.
Heard on the radio from Sacramento County Registrar that there’s 235,000 ballots to be counted. And by the time, all the votes are counted, we believe we will be in a run-off with Jones. We want to ensure that every vote is counted and we look forward to the results.
I started this campaign because Sacramento deserves a better Sheriff. I’d like to thank the many dedicated people I met along the way who believe we can make our criminal justice system fairer, safer and smarter. Together, we can make that change. Vote!

Scott Jones hands out concealed carry weapons permits like candy, including 150 people who should have never been able to carry. Among them: Eight people arrested for "domestic violence or child endangerment." That's reckless. As Sheriff, I'll be sensible

This election has attracted national attention. People from around America are looking at Sacramento County to be a model of how to reform our criminal justice system. I'm honored to be a part of this movement. https://t.co/ShzFDJoKC5
Making the final push before the election on June 5th. Response has been great, but we'll need everyone to pitch in if we're going to create a smarter, fairer safer Sheriff's Department. So make sure you and your family and friends get your ballots in!

Sacramento County #Sheriff Scott Jones has promoted two men implicated in expensive gender #harassment claims, but will #voters care? Story:

It's not enough just to be "tough on crime." Now, we need to be smart on crime.
This June 5th, Switch to Fitch for Sheriff of Sacramento County.

I’ve been endorsed by the Sacramento Bee because their editorial board knows Scott Jones is wrong for Sacramento. Here’s their take on Jones when he went to Washington to kiss Donald Trump’s ring and insult our region.

This is completely unacceptable. As Sheriff, I will reshape the Department so that all our deputies feel supported. I will not tolerate the heinous misconduct that Scott Jones has rewarded. https://t.co/j2yA2if4Im
Dr. BJ Davis is the Executive Director of Strategies for Change, one of Sacramento's most active providers of offender reentry counseling and case management services. I'm honored to share his words supporting my campaign (on FB--too many for Twitter): https://t.co/DuLH73t4lg
Other attendees of this event? Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Iowa Congressman Steve King, who used to keep a Confederate flag on his desk. As Sheriff, I will work against those who spread hate, not stand beside them as Scott Jones does.

The Southern Poverty Law Center labels FAIR as a hate group. These pictures show Scott Jones with FAIR’s president Dan Stein and FAIR's media director, Ira Mehlman at an event in 2015.

The Sacramento Bee Editorial Board on the Sheriff department’s "frat-house, bully-boy reputation,” exemplified by Scott Jones:
“With every lawsuit and every “boys will be boys” revelation, that culture costs the rest of us just a little bit more.”

The news cycle moves pretty fast these days, so I'm going to tweet out some news articles in the run-up to the election to remind people why Sacramento County has been calling for change in the leadership of the Sheriff’s Department for so long.
A State auditor found that Scott Jones doesn’t consistently follow the procedures laid out by his own department for the issuing of concealed carry weapon permits. This is a dangerous failure to live up to his duty to keep our county safe.

Sacramento News & Review's Jeff vonKaenel: "We need reform. And we need to send a clear message by supporting Milo Fitch for Sheriff...”
Three months ago, SN&R ran the story that really made me consider running for office. Grateful to their great paper.

“Milo Fitch is the right leader at the right time for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department," said Supervisor Patrick Kennedy. "With his experience in patrol and in leadership positions, he’ll steer the department in the right direction and serve the entire community."
