๐จ Stolen Firearm Recovered During Early Morning Contact ๐จ
Yesterday, around 1:17 AM, a midnight shift officer was conducting patrol checks near the 1250-Block of Great Mall Drive and contacted two individuals sitting in a vehicle who were unfamiliar with the area. During the investigation, officers determined the male occupant, a 23-year-old Sacramento resident, was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for a prior violent offense.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a stolen Glock 19 that had been reported stolen to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, along with two loaded magazines.
The 23-year-old male and a 20-year-old Elk Grove resident were both arrested and booked into jail on firearm-related charges and possession of stolen property.
The recovery of this stolen firearm helped remove a dangerous weapon from our streets and prevented it from potentially being used in future criminal activity. Great work by our midnight officers for their vigilance and commitment to keeping our community safe. ๐๐

May is National Bicycle Safety Month! ๐ดโก
With the growing popularity of e-bikes, itโs important to know the difference between bicycles, e-bikes, and electric motorcycles in California.
๐ฒ Traditional Bicycle
โข Human-powered only
โก E-Bikes (3 Classes)
โข Class 1 & 2: Up to 20 mph
โข Class 3: Up to 28 mph, riders must be 16+ and wear a helmet
โข No license, registration, or insurance required for e-bikes
๐๏ธ Electric Motorcycles
โข Faster and more powerful than e-bikes
โข Require a motorcycle license, registration, insurance, and DOT-approved helmet
Parents, please make sure your children ride safely, wear helmets, follow traffic laws, and stay visible. Motorists, please continue watching out for bicyclists and e-bike riders on our roadways.
Letโs work together to keep our community safe! ๐ด๐

๐ A mail thief thought they got away but our detectives had other plans.
Earlier this month, Milpitas Police officers responded to a report of a subject breaking into a mailroom near the 1800-Block of S. Milpitas Blvd. Thanks to surveillance footage, collaborative investigative follow-up, and the persistence of our detectives, a 44-year-old from San Jose was identified and a felony warrant was obtained for her arrest.
Last week, detectives served a search warrant at the suspectโs residence and recovered stolen mail, driver licenses, identification cards, an embosser, fraudulent documents, and drug-related paraphernalia. The suspect was arrested on multiple fraud, identity theft, and drug-related charges and was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
This case is a great reminder that even small pieces of evidence can make a big difference. If you believe youโve been the victim of mail or package theft, please report it. Security camera footage, photos, or witness information can provide valuable leads that help us identify suspects and recover stolen property.

What started as a routine call for a stranded motorist quickly turned into a paws-itively unforgettable rescue for our day shift officers. ๐พ๐
When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a tiny kitten trapped inside the vehicleโs wheel well. The situation may have started out a little โclawful,โ but with quick thinking, teamwork, and plenty of patience, officers were able to safely rescue the frightened furry passenger.
The kitten was safely turned over to Animal Control Services and is now receiving the care it deserves.
Great work by our officers and Animal Control for helping keep even the smallest members of our community safe. ๐

May is upon us, and so is the National Click It or Ticket campaign, a reminder that safety starts the moment you get in the car.
The Milpitas Police Department is joining agencies nationwide in emphasizing one simple action that saves lives every day: buckle up.
Seat belts take just seconds to put on, but they can be the critical difference between walking away from a crash and suffering a life-changing injury. It doesnโt matter if youโre heading across town or just a few blocks down the road, every trip deserves the same level of safety.
This campaign is about more than enforcement. Itโs about awareness, prevention, and protecting the people we care about most.
Make it automatic. Make it non-negotiable. Buckle up, every trip, every time.
