Congratulations to Milton on its historic vote last night for new zoning to meet the MBTA Communities Law. We need smart solutions to spur housing production and reduce housing costs. Housing and Livable Communities looks forward to reviewing these plans.

“Additional housing close to public transit will promote small business development, strengthen our local economy, and lower Milton’s carbon footprint,” said AIM steering committee member Julie Creamer. “This plan is a win for everyone who lives in Milton.”
Milton Town Meeting Members Vote overwhelmingly in support of more homes for all. Members of Affordable Inclusive Milton (AIM), a local, community-led advocacy organization, celebrated Town Meeting members voting yes tonight on a proposal to enact new multifamily zoning. 🧵
“This vote passed because of the diligent engagement by Milton’s hard-working planning staff,” said AIM co-founder Tom Callahan. “In particular, we thank Tim Czerwienski and staff, whose tireless efforts ensured we had an effective plan our town could be proud to support.”
Milton votes tonight (or at least we should!) on MBTA Communities Act compliance. Town meeting starts at 7:30pm. What time will we vote. Over/under (later/earlier?) set at 9:30pm after 3.5 hours of debate last Monday on motion to refer back which was defeated with 63% of vote.
Milton takes a step forward tonight by voting decisively against the motion to refer a compliant zoning article back for further study. Motion was supported by those opposed to compliance with MBTA Communities Act and opposed by AIM and supporters in every neighborhood of Milton.
AHMA is live at Milton High for Milton’s Special Town Meeting! We are hoping for a yes vote on Articles 1 and 2 in compliance with the MBTA Communities Act. 20+ pro-housing advocates are standing outside with signs before the meeting. Stay tuned for updates🧵
