This is a photo of the late Malama Ummulkhairi, who was reportedly burned to death yesterday in Maraban Jos after being accused of child kidnapping.
You were wronged in the most tragic way. Judgment was passed without clear evidence, due process, or justice.
May Allah accept your soul in His mercy, forgive your shortcomings, and grant you Al-Firdaus. May He uphold your rights and the rights of your children, and may everyone involved in this injustice face His perfect justice.
May Allah protect our communities from mob violence, false accusations, and taking the law into our own hands.
Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return. 🤲💔

The more you hear the accounts of this incident the more you feel like running mad ! They tortured poor Nihal to death. Innalilahi wa inna ilaihin rajiun!!!
The @KanoPoliceNG under the capable CP has set us a commission of Enquiry to investigate the foul play in the death of @n_dansharif daughter Nihal of blessed memory at St Louis School kano.
Let us support her until justice is served because I don’t understand why CAN will quickly be involved in a case that has to do with a parent and student.
Instead of CAN to stand for justice, they’re all about protecting a school against a grieving mother.
Family Demands Thorough Investigation into Death of 14-Year-Old Kano Student
The family of 14-year-old Maimuna Sani, popularly known as Nihal, a JSS2 student of St. Louis Secondary School, Kano, is demanding a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Nihal died on June 13, 2026, with the school reportedly attributing her death to an asthma attack. However, her family has rejected that explanation, alleging that she may have died after being punished by senior students.
Speaking to Daily Trust, her mother, Nusaiba Rabiu Dan Sheriff, said she was hospitalized when the school informed the family that Nihal was ill. According to her, a relative who went to the hospital was asked whether the teenager had asthma, a claim the family strongly denied.
Doctors later informed them that Nihal was brought to the hospital dead.
The grieving mother said her suspicions grew after seeing her daughter's body.
“When I saw her body, her mouth was black. I asked what they gave her that caused that, but I was told that is how dead bodies look. I did not agree,” she said.
She also claimed that a vice principal at the school advised her not to listen to any reports circulating about her daughter's death, a statement she said further raised concerns.
The family alleges that Nihal was flogged and made to kneel for an extended period by senior students as punishment for arriving late to the mosque, after which she reportedly collapsed
.
The school's principal, Rev. Sr. Christiana Diyab, declined to comment, stating that the matter is currently under police investigation.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Police Command has set up a Special Investigation Panel headed by DCP Shehu Idris, with officials from the Kano State Ministry of Justice providing oversight. Police say statements have been obtained from three teachers, three senior students, and two witnesses, while medical and forensic examinations are ongoing.
The Kano State Government has assured the public that appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation, while reiterating that corporal punishment remains prohibited in schools across the state.
Child rights advocates have expressed
concern over the incident, warning that such cases could further erode public confidence in the safety of school environments.
