People think that intimacy is about sex. But intimacy is about TRUTH.
When you realize you can tell someone your truth, when you can show yourself to them, when you stand in front of them bare and their response is “You’re safe with me”—that’s intimacy👌. #EvelynHugo
Man's desire to become a father is always paid for by a woman with her body, her health, her career, and her freedom.
But when a woman expects a comfortable life, she is somehow shamed for wanting too much
When you marry your woman, you marry her for yourself, not your mother. Men must stop making their mothers shareholders in their marriages. Your mother is your father's wife, not your first wife. You're making things difficult for your wives.
The truth is, a lot of men are ignorant. They walk around believing that fertility is a woman's issue, that pregnancy complications are a woman's problem, that miscarriages and birth defects are simply bad luck or the woman's doing. They do not know that unhealthy sperm can be responsible for miscarriages, disabilities, and even the way a woman looks and feels during pregnancy.
Men do not know that poor sperm quality contributes to recurrent pregnancy loss. They do not know that damaged sperm DNA can lead to birth defects, childhood cancers, and developmental issues. They do not know that the man's health at the time of conception affects the woman's pregnancy health, including her risk of preeclampsia and gestational diabetes.
They do not know that unhealthy sperm can make a woman look bad during pregnancy. Poor sperm quality can affect placental health, which in turn affects her skin, her energy, her mood, and her overall well being.
Many men do not care to know. They drink excessively, eat poorly, smoke, stay up late, and stress their bodies without thinking about the consequences. Then they blame the woman when pregnancy goes wrong.
Dear women,
If you can afford a maid please do, if you can get a cook, please get one.
Always look for ways to make your life easier. There’s no award for the mom who works the hardest but lost herself in the process.
Preserve yourself. Normalize not doing everything yourself.
You weren’t wrong.
This wasn’t about a broom. It was about control, ego, and an old script that says “a good wife must suffer visibly or she’s lazy/worthless.” Your mother-in-law didn’t come to help; she came to audit. The moment your husband publicly rejected that script (“I didn’t marry her to do chores”), her authority was gone, so she threw a silent tantrum that’s now lasted months. Classic.
You have a cleaner for a 2-bedroom house. That’s not “wasting money”; that’s being smart with the resources God (or your husband) gave you. 20k naira is literally pocket change for most couples who can afford it. She’s not angry about dust—she’s angry that you refused to perform the role she thinks defines your value. That’s her problem, not yours.
The leg-lifting moment? Yeah, it was savage. And hilarious. And probably the exact second she realized she had zero power in your home. You didn’t disrespect her; you just refused to be her emotional hostage. She dropped the broom and sulked because the performance didn’t get the reaction she wanted. Let her sit in it.
Cheating is a character flaw and I wish people weren’t so forgiving about it. It shows a willingness to deceive, to prioritize short-term desire over integrity, and to disregard the trust someone else has placed in them.
Disgusting.
