As Mina’s List Executive Director @PalwashaHasan shared:
“Peace and justice do not live only in the halls of the United Nations; they must be nurtured in our communities and rooted in our values: Adalah, justice, and the unity and dignity of humanity.”
We are grateful to our partners and all who joined us.

Last week at #CSW70, Mina’s List was honored to co-host a timely discussion on pathways to justice with @WPHFund, @UN_Women, @UNDP, @UNHumanRights, and the Permanent Mission of Norway.
Women Human Rights Defenders continue to advance justice, even under pressure. 🧵
Featuring WHRDs from Afghanistan, Sudan, and Kenya, the conversation underscored a key truth:
Justice is not a single outcome, it is a journey. One that begins with acknowledging injustice and continues through collective action to defend fundamental rights.
@NehanNargis@wphfund “Member States have not been standing up for the UN Charter in the face of human rights violations. This makes the work of WHRDs more important than ever. Civil society is THE mechanism for accountability.”
— @KaavyaAsoka of @ngowgwps at #CSW70

🚨Yesterday, on #HumanRightsDay, we reaffirmed our commitment to Afghan women human rights defenders and urged the U.S. government to reverse policies that jeopardize their safety. 📢Read our statement: https://t.co/6xewKK8XJe
As we mark the 16 Days of Activism, Mina’s List stands firmly for the protection of women and girls worldwide. Politically driven policies that endanger refugee women and children undermine their safety and fundamental rights. We are particularly concerned about the situation of Afghan refugees in Pakistan and urge the authorities to uphold human rights and protection obligations above politics.

Last week, ML Founder & President Tanya Henderson spoke at Texas A&M’s Symposium on Women, Peace & Security about the future of WPS through the lens of Afghan women. She reminded us: “Peace that denies the rights and security of half the population is not peace at all.” #WPS
Grateful to @MinasList and @GIWPS for organizing the powerful event “Afghan Women Speak – 25 Years After UNSCR 1325.” 🌿
It was an honor to attend and hear the inspiring voices of Afghan women leaders sharing lessons, resilience, and visions for peace. ✨ #WPS#AfghanWomen@PalwashaHasan@WWafeq@Hmosadiq@HanifaGirowal
Afghan women’s message is clear:
Peace without women is neither just nor sustainable.
They call for real peace grounded in rights, justice & inclusion — not as passive beneficiaries, but as key actors shaping Afghanistan’s future.

Spending #UNDay listening to #Afghanwomen leaders speak to situation for women, peace & security in #Afghanistan "peace is not the absence of war, it is also freedom, justice and equality. Peace may have come for Afghan men, but not for women" #wps#un80@UN@EUatUN@MinasList
25 years ago, women's participation in peace & security was enshrined in #UNSCR1325.
Yet today, in #Afghanistan, that promise has been shattered.
"The systems that once protected us are gone. It is not enough to commemorate resolutions — you must uphold them!” - @SarabiHabiba
"Economic empowerment IS the foundation of peace. When Afghan women can earn an income, support their families & lead in their communities, they become powerful agents of stability," said our partner @WWafeq, urging to put women’s economic empowerment at the ❤️ of the #WPSAgenda.
