People need to be really a lot more concerned about this funding practice. How can independent media be independent when the state is paying them money.
BREAKING: RTÉ spread disinformation on the death of Ali Sohrabi in Castlerea Prison
Ali Sohrabi, a prisoner on remand, died in Castlerea Prison on Thursday 25 June.
Media including RTÉ, the Irish Examiner, the Irish Independent and Midwest Radio have claimed that Sohrabi was “found dead in his cell.”
These reports are untrue. Sohrabi did not die in his cell. He was not found in his cell.
At 7:30pm on Thursday 25 June Martina Burke called Pat McGrath, RTÉ Western Correspondent, to raise this issue. McGrath answered the phone, then immediately hung up when he heard the purpose of the call.
It is unacceptable that these media outlets can make claims which they know are untrue. It is wrong that the public cannot believe what they read or hear on the national media.
We have had to write on numerous occasions to papers such as the Irish Examiner regarding the disinformation they publish on the case of Enoch Burke.
It is also serious to hear the Minister for Arts and Culture Patrick O’Donovan warn of the dangers of disinformation, yet claim that the only reliable sources of news are outlets such as RTÉ.
We would encourage the public to contact RTÉ and enquire why they are spreading this disinformation and giving a false message to the public.
We would also encourage the public to contact Minister Patrick O’Donovan and ask him what steps he will be taking to address the disinformation being spread by the media.
Is this one of the worst crimes by the Irish government against its citizens?
Georgian criminal and Lithuanian EU passport holder Tarieli Schatz was given Irish IPAS asylum accommodation. He had numerous previous convictions, including in Austria (where his child lives), from where he had already been deported. His behaviour in Ireland was such that he had to be removed from one IPAS centre for fighting with another resident.
Tarieli Schatz was already under a deportation order and was due to be removed from the state just six days after an incident that left an Irishman dead. In that incident, he drove a dumper on a Wicklow building site while under the influence of cannabis and killed Irish father-of-two John Maher.

It’s a never ending road of immigration chaos and not one single idiot in government has the balls to stay STOP.
They stopped listening to the people years ago and they are now actively working against the will of the people.
They are pandering to minorities from NGOs who want to invite people to Ireland who will live on supports for life and suck on the tax-payers tit.
It seems incredible that any creche would hire this man calling himself "Aleena Starshine" to care for children, but the Craoibhin Community Enterprise Centre in Currin, Termon, County Donegal did just that in November of 2024.
The Workplace Relations Commission has ruled that his claim against the creche, citing "gender discrimination", has been dismissed; a claim difficult to sustain, given the fact that they hired him in the first place.
After just four days of his employment, which included a six month probationary period, parental complaints had been received, including one concerning an activity he engaged in with the children, described as a “safari game”, during which he reportedly offered an eleven year old child “a free kiss from me” or a “big kiss” as a prize.
He was suspended on full pay while the matter was "fully investigated'.
The claimant accepted the allegations about the "prize of a kiss", but claimed that it was "a joke during a game and that the children had laughed and enjoyed it".
Perhaps it is time that parents have a role in selecting employees at childcare and child education facilities.

“Meat Cleaver for Self-Defence”- Brazilian Transgender Sex Worker Convicted After North Cork Arrest
A Brazilian transgender individual described by gardaí as working as a sex worker across the Munster area has been convicted in absence on public order and offensive weapon charges after failing to appear in court.
Rebecca Monteiro, of no fixed abode, faced a special sitting of Mallow District Court held at Fermoy Courthouse on Thursday. Monteiro did not attend the hearing.Detective Garda McSweeney told the court that Monteiro was found in possession of a meat cleaver, which Monteiro said was being carried for self-defence.
Monteiro told officers the item belonged to them when interviewed.
Gardaí formed the view that Monteiro, who has a previous address linked to Galway, posed a danger to themself and the public. Monteiro was arrested in connection with being drunk in a public place under the Public Order Act, with the meat cleaver matter also before the court.
Judge Colm Roberts convicted Monteiro on both charges in absence and issued a bench warrant for arrest.
The case has been widely reported in local and national Irish media, drawing attention to the circumstances surrounding the incident in the Mallow area of North Cork.
No further details on Monteiro’s age, exact date of the incident, or any prior convictions were disclosed in open court reporting. There have been no updates on the execution of the bench warrant as of Saturday, 20 June 2026.This remains a routine district court matter based on evidence presented by An Garda Síochána.
The Irish government are making complete fools out of the Irish people, and they are accepting it! Why ?
Well they are afraid of being called names!
Wake up people!!!
A judge has said the case of a Romanian national who posed as a taxi driver before stalking the woman he had picked up, breaking into her home and viciously raping her is "the stuff of nightmares", as he jailed him for 11 years.
One-time professional footballer Costel Raducan (37) of High Street, Balbriggan, Co Dublin was convicted by a Central Criminal Court jury last month of burglary, rape and attempted anal rape at a location in Dublin on May 3, 2025. He has previous convictions for theft and road traffic offences.

Two men from Eastern Europe have been jailed 13 and 11 years for human trafficking for the purpose of labour exploitation - the first conviction of its type in the State https://t.co/UGR99NJLpl
It just amazes me how dishonest the media are in this country.
They will blame Tommy Robinson, Russian disinformation and probably Santa Claus for the violence before they admit our open border immigration policies are the problem.
