The voice in your head and you are like the earth and the sun.
It looks like the sun is circling earth but it’s the other way around.
You should be controlling your thoughts not the other way around.
A mindfulness lesson from my 18-month-old toddler.
Yesterday before falling asleep he said:
Levi also doctor ...helping people
We are all here to serve others. Happiness comes from lifting others.
When you are present it’s easier…
…to see other people’s perspectives
…to love
…to be creative
…to be kind and understanding.
All of this is available to you in the NOW.
Growth is when your fulfilment comes from within instead of
…buying more things
…watching Netflix
…achieving more and more
…running from one event to the next.
My family recently moved from a 2-room apartment to a newly built 4-room apartment.
I knew before this wouldn’t make us happier.
It’s more convenient but you always get used to what you have — anchoring a new standard.
Quickly you’ll find yourself wanting the next upgrade.
Set goals, dream big but don’t wait for them to materialize before you allow yourself to be happy.
As Thich Nhat Hanh says:
You have to realize that happiness is not something you find at the end of the road. You have to understand that it is here now.
Are you willing to sit with the uncomfortable feelings to dissolve your pain?
Are you willing to let go of the storyline in your head?
Yes?
Begin your healing journey by looking inward every day.
The Dalai Lama says:
Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.
95% of people don’t have the mental strength to do that.
It requires lots of inner work and presence.
A mindfulness experiment.
Yesterday I went on a boat trip in the Maldives. The ride took two hours, no internet.
What do you think people actually did when there was no screen time available?
Find the answer in the comments and let me know what you would do
If your cup is empty it’s no good for anyone!
Then you’re:
less creative, less fun, less patient, more reactive, more tired, more in your head or on your phone.
Being exhausted makes healing impossible.
To be present you need to take care of yourself.
You are sitting in a restaurant over dinner with a friend.
Your friend constantly grabs his/her phone!
That doesn’t mean you are boring it just shows that your friend is unable to be present and has nothing to do with you.
This week's Mindful Monday is for you if...
... you feel your phone has taken over your life or
... your screentime exceeds 3 hours a day
