😢 “We worked with our old PR agency for six months and they only got us 2 pieces of media coverage. Am I crazy? That's bad, right?"
🤔 Nope, you're not crazy.
😠 That's bad.
But sadly, it's a common story in #PR.
It doesn't have to be that way, though.
All of @MindMeldPR's PR Associates are ex-journalists. (And they're NOT fresh-out-of-school interns, or #marketing generalists assigned to do PR off the side of their desks).
😉 Our PR pro's know what makes for a good story. They know how to pitch reporters in a way that turns an idea into a real story, because they've worked in the #news.
This is how we do it.

When the sh*t hit the fan, did your company have a crisis comms action plan in place? Or did you wing it? And how did that turn out?

As the founder of @MindMeldPR, what's my main day-to-day challenge? It's not actually getting earned media coverage for clients. (My wonderful team of smart PR pro's takes care of that!)
My main job (which I love)? Getting new #PRagency clients in the door.
As in any business, cash is king. More PR clients means more revenue. That lets us hire more #PR Associates and have more creative brains at the table getting ever-more media coverage for our happy clients.
But sometimes I'll get an email like this one I received last week (slightly redacted):
"We're happy to report that after an intense search involving several PR firms, we've chosen you! But we'd like to do a custom PR package that is [MORE SCOPE THAN WE DISCUSSED] at [WAAAAAY LESS BUDGET THAN WE DISCUSSED]. We'd love to start on Tuesday. Can you send over an agreement?"
This kind of thing doesn't always end in no deal. I'm a reasonable man. A little bit of roll-up-your-sleeves, sharpen-your-pencil negotiating? You can get to a win for both sides.
That said, new deals can sometimes fizzle out because of pricing.
But I think maybe, just maybe...
That's all in the past now...
Because we're in 🇨🇦#Canada🍁!
In Canada, if your pricing is too much for your buyers, the government will step in and buy it.
What am I talking about? Is this real? Well, the Canadian federal government has announced it is prepared to spend billions to buy condos that no one wants to buy. The prices are too high. So the developers can't sell the units.
Well, Canadians are problem solvers.
Why let buyers and sellers determine the price of things when you can just 'solve' the problem with endless sacks of taxpayer's dollars?
I'm excited about the future! Now that pricing isn't a factor, I'm sure I'll soon be signing more PR contracts than ever before!
Canada, where's my bailout?

AI slop could be killing your company's online presence. Thought you'd fight fire with fire? Use AI to produce tons of #marketing#content so you show up in #GEO AKA #AIsearch? Well, the joke's on you.
Here's what a lot of people are misunderstanding.

“Will Blake Lively ever work in Hollywood again after this?” asks Jonathon Narvey, Chief Executive Officer at @MindMeldPR (Hey wait! That's me! Thanks for including me, @ReputationIntel).
What do you think of my hot take on this celebrity #CrisisComms situation?

@MindMeldPR is ranked one of the best #PR agencies on Clutch for helping #startups and scale-ups get into the news. To our PR clients who love working with us: thank you for your 5-star testimonials. We made it!
A lot of the #ThoughtLeadership content I see reads like it was written by a committee.
The result? It’s boring and forgettable.
The #brands that are winning attention with #thought leadership are the ones with hard-hitting, data-driven opinions.
🔥 They’re not playing it safe. They have hot takes. Unique insights. Counter-intuitive angles.
That’s how you make sure your thought leadership cuts through the noise. No more corporate-speak, AI-generated 'hot takes', people 🚀

I'll be at @WebSummit in #Vancouver next week, representing Mind Meld PR Inc. Like a lot of you, I'm looking to learn about new #marketing tactics and #tech solutions in a fast-changing #AI-powered world.
But I also want to find new partners for our #tech focused #PRagency.
And to be fully transparent, I'm there to discover any #startups and scale-ups interested in building their brand with news coverage in 2026!
❓ Are you a startup or scale-up Founder, CEO or in-house VP of Marketing coming to #WebSummit?
💡 Let's talk about building your #brand and getting discovered in #GEO by getting featured in outlets like @Forbes, @FastCompany, @globeandmail, etc.
❓ Are you a fractional CMO? Or do you run your own marketing or branding agency?
💡 For many marketing agencies, we're the trusted PR partner. Let's talk about our agency referral program!
Looking forward to reconnecting with many of you at Web Summit and making new friends - and drinking lots of coffee☕!

Journalists do not want:
❌ 3-page pitches
❌ fake exclusives
❌ 6 exclamation marks
❌ your “urgent” non-urgent email
❌ a cold pitch with a calendar invite attached
They want actual stories (and lucky for us, that's what we LOVE to do for our #PR clients. Just sayin').
We put together a list of 50 PR mistakes to avoid.
PR pro's (and marketers who are doing PR off the side of their desk): which mistakes did we miss? Leave yours in a comment below!

Heading to #VSW AKA Vancouver Startup Week today. Mobile PR for Startups" office hours now open! Want to know how to build your #startup's brand? Let's grab a coffee☕ and chat! Or DM me and we'll set up a Zoom.
@MindMeldPR is attending DigiMarCon today! Looking forward to seeing #marketing pro's and #agency founders in #Vancouver.
💡 Do your #marketing clients need #PR help to get them news coverage (to build the brand and help with GEO)?
Let's☕ talk about collaboration!
"If you’re not doing marketing, much less tracking results and adapting campaigns, it’s probably too early to spend your first dollar on PR," says me, your friendly neighborhood #PR pro.
But why? Well, read on...

Are your #marketing getting the results you hoped for? #AI searches prioritize earned media, which means #PR can help you reach your target audience.

💡 Public relations pro's are not journalists.
(We talk to them.
But we are not them.)
This might seems obvious to you.
I guarantee, it's not obvious to a lot of CEOs and even some seasoned VPs of #Marketing.
How do I know?
I do a lot of sales calls every month for @MindMeldPR
We run through the client's business objectives, their marketing and PR objectives, see how that aligns with our process and results, etc. Typical sales call stuff.
In at least 25 percent of these calls, the person in the company that says they want #PR services gives me this line:
❓ "So... just to clarify, you write articles and then the news outlets just publish that, right?"
🤔 Well, no.
That's paid media. Advertorials. Basically, advertising with a disclaimer somewhere at the top or bottom saying that this is not news. Sponsored content, paid content, advertorial, etc. That's what that is.
(BTW, sponsored content isn't always bad. We absolutely have helped some PR clients with writing thought leadership pieces and getting them published. No problem. But that's not typically what we do all day long.)
What do we do, if we don't focus on paid media?
Our PR pro's reach out to actual reporters in top mainstream news media (eg. newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, podcasts, etc.) and niche trade publications and everything in between.
We don't typically send a finished article. What we send is a pitch. A really good idea, with some proof to back it up, targeted to that particular reporter, so that they will create a news story about our client.
This PR effort requires an in-depth understanding of your business and industry and the stories we can tell about it.
Good PR requires top-notch writing skills and creativity.
It requires data-driven targeting and customization.
And it requires persistence. Sometimes, a pitch doesn't get picked up until the 2nd or 3rd time you bug a reporter (and that's a critical skill in itself: being seen as helpful and not annoying as you reconnect each time).

“Boring is not safe, boring is risky,” says me (like a boss) in Boss Today.
Vibe coders are creating competition lightning-fast. It's more important than ever for successful companies to have a #brand that sticks.

You just launched your 'next big thing' and... nothing.
😨 Meanwhile, your competition is nipping at your heels.
😱 Or running ahead.
Building credibility with #PR isn't cheap 💰
But launching from stealth mode into "why doesn't anyone talk about us" mode costs way more 🤑 🤑 🤑
Founders tell me the same story every week:
😠 Solid leads coming in... but they just can't close deals
😠 Prospects ghost right when it feels like a "yes"
😡 Losing deals to the "safe" brand everyone already knows
Sound familiar?
The fix isn't more ads or colder outreach.
It's visibility that builds trust before the sales call even starts.
Our team secures real earned media for startups & scale-ups — coverage in top outlets that moves the needle on credibility and pipeline.
Recent wins include major funding announcements, product launches, and executive profiles that helped clients close bigger deals faster.
Tired of being the best-kept secret in your space?

“Most people love zero-to-hero stories. It’s far more exciting to see how a scrappy group of nerds working out of a garage figure out how to make their first million then to see someone else come in and turn $1 billion into $10 billion," says me.
