I am very excited to share the news that as of this week, I received my PhD in Epidemiological Psychiatry from @KingsIoPPN King’s College London. 🎉🍾🥳
Thank you to @kcsamh, my funding body (@lissdtp), my colleagues and supervisors for supporting me across the PhD journey. 😊
@RestIsPolitics@campbellclaret@RoryStewartUK What do you think about the app Ground News, which aims to “free readers from algorithmic restraints, reveals blindspots and makes media bias explicit”? Does it help us escape echo chambers and better understand two sides of every story?
Bullying (all forms) was associated with self-harm (aRR 3.35 [2.89,3.82]) for both girls (aRR 3.61) and boys (aRR 2.96)
🔸Translation: victims of bullying were ~3 times more likely to report self-harm than their non-bullied peers.
🔸Next steps: explore longitudinal associations.
🚨New publication in Archives of Suicide Research🚨Pleased to share baseline findings from my PhD: Bullying & self-harm in adolescents from @TheREACHStudy - a representative sample from two diverse areas of London, UK. Key findings⬇️@kcsamh@IASR_Suicide
https://t.co/818QkbmxyW
In a sample of 3,060 11-14 y/olds (Mage=12.4 years, 50.6% girls, >80% ethnic minority groups):
🔹22% experienced bullying in the past 6 months
🔹17% reported self-harm in their lifetime
🔹By sub-type: Physical bullying most reported (17%), cyber bullying least reported (4%)
Cannot emphasise enough how exciting an opportunity this is for anyone looking for a career in clinical psychology and suicide research. Highly recommend working with Professor Joiner, and the wonderful @FloridaState.
I am admitting at least one clinical psychology Ph.D. student at FSU Psychology (though our website said otherwise, an error). Please spread the word if you're so inclined
Update, website now fixed:

@campbellclaret@maitlis “I thought you were giving all your time to Clacton now as an MP” 😅 love how @maitlis can deliver this line with a straight face.
@RestIsPolitics Appreciate the question to Wes Streeting about Labour’s plan for mental health policy. Massively neglected from conversations during the campaign despite the clear need and continued increasing demand for support.
@RestIsPolitics Very much enjoying the C4 coverage; feels like two of my favourite podcasts have joined forces for the night.. (with some excellent comebacks to some of the more right wing guests..)
