Yes, I was a staunch Mark Carney supporter. I wanted him to succeed. But my support came with expectations, and protecting the livelihoods of Canadians was one of them.

Yes, Canada must defend its sovereignty. But neither gives this government a blank cheque on wages, immigration, housing or public spending.

If Ottawa wants more workers for major projects, show us the evidence which occupations, in which communities, at what wages? Show us the training commitments, recruitment efforts and housing capacity. Explain how Canadian workers will benefit and how employers will be held accountable.

Those are reasonable questions. They deserve answers even when they come from people who helped put this government in office.

American pressure cannot become an all purpose justification for domestic decisions. A policy still has to make sense for the family paying the rent, the apprentice trying to get established and the worker negotiating a decent wage.

I supported Carney because I believed he would put his economic expertise to work for ordinary Canadians. I am entitled to judge him by whether he delivers.

It’s yours to decide this prime minister has not earned your continued support. Your vote belongs to you. He has to earn it again. 🇨🇦

I supported Mark Carney. I wanted him to succeed because I wanted Canada to succeed. But my support was never without limitations.

There comes a point when you have to ask yourself am I defending a government because it’s delivering, or because I don’t want to admit I put my faith in the wrong place?

I’m a tradesman, a father and a Canadian. I want a country where working hard gets your family ahead. Where young Canadians have a realistic chance of owning a home. Where we train our own people, protect fair wages and match immigration to the homes, services and opportunities we can actually provide.

Those should be basic expectations of any government.

Supporting Canada does not require supporting Mark Carney. Questioning his decisions does not mean abandoning the country. Holding a prime minister accountable is part of defending it.

And the Conservatives have a responsibility here too. Give people something concrete to come back to: credible plans, respect for working people and a clear commitment to making life better for the people already here.

There should be a welcome for anyone willing to reconsider their support. No humiliation. No “we told you so.” Just an honest recognition that the country matters more than saving face.

I changed my mind because my priorities haven’t changed.

My family. My fellow workers. My country.

Every party has to earn our support. None of them owns it. Canada needs real change. 🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦
