@sherylsandberg’s important documentary “Screams Before Silence” is now out
Given the cruel attack and atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7th, I have no doubt that we must rethink international criminal law.
Humanity must do more to protect women, children and families against such evil.
This film is more than just a viewing experience; it's a rallying cry for justice and empowerment. At a time when the voices of the victims continue to be silenced, this documentary gives them a voice and agency. It's a reminder that even when international human rights fall short of their promise, individual acts of courage can still spark meaningful change.

I was deeply moved by the searing accounts I heard from a released hostage and families of others kidnapped by Hamas.
I reiterate my strong appeal for the unconditional release of all hostages. NOW.
In the face of silence from international human rights bodies, we're honored Ambassador @RahmEmanuel and his wife, Amy Rule, were lending their steadfast support immediately from the earliest days to the critical cause championed by Dr. Cochav Elkayam Levy, Chair of the Civil Commission on Oct. 7th Crimes Committed by Hamas against Women and Children.
Their joint commitment signifies the importance in seeking justice for the victims affected by these heinous crimes. We express our deepest gratitude to Ambassador Emanuel and Amy for their unwavering support and tireless pursuit of justice.
Ambassador Emanuel’s dedication to global issues, and his and Amy's profound commitment to humanitarian causes shine brightly in their alliance with Dr. Cochav Elkayam Levy. Their leadership is welcomed, as we affirm the importance of accountability and human rights in our international affairs.
It's a powerful step towards a world where justice prevails and where those impacted find a voice and solace. Together, let's pave the path for a more just and compassionate world.

Tonight I met with Chair of the Civil Commission on October 7 Crimes by Hamas Against Women and Children, Dr Elkayam-Levy.
Australia condemns Hamas’ use of sexual violence as a weapon to maximise terror and fear.
@SenatorWong@dfat@CochavElkayam Thank you for your courage and moral conviction at this challenging time. We all must stand up and share the truth for the women who cannot share their stories. #BelieveIsraeliWomen
I had the honor of delivering the annual MLK sermon at Central Synagogue.
My speech touches on a range of topics and themes: October 7th, Jim Crow, Leo Frank, MLK, Elie Wiesel, silence, indifference, moral clarity, nonviolence, Israel, Am Yisrael Chai, Hatikvah, and hope.
“Some people were murdered on Oct 7th and others murdered but are still alive
….
What happened to women during the atrocities in Israel is a human rights matter that should concern the entire movement. We should all be worried and make sure women are protected.”
Thank you Xavier Bettel, former PM of Luxembourg and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

Time is running out.
״Naama is only 19, but she’ll always be my baby girl. A girl who truly believes in the good of all people. She enjoys athletics and dreams of a career in diplomacy, and her greatest passion is helping those in need.
…
It has been deeply disturbing to see the United Nations and feminist organizations refuse to acknowledge that Hamas raped and committed appalling sexual crimes against women, simply because the victims are Jewish. It took two months for some to finally admit the scale and the brutality of the horror.״

We’ve seen horrific reports of sexual assault by Hamas on October 7th. It is reprehensible and must be condemned.
Rape can never be used as a weapon of war. I’ve spent my career protecting women and girls from heinous crimes of sexual violence and will continue to do so.
@SenGillibrand@UN Thank you for standing up and speaking out against sexual violence committed against women. Rape is never justified. #believeisraeliwomen
Do not miss this. The HISTORICAL speech of @SenGillibrand
And remember her name.
@SenGillibrand - may we meet again someday when you’ll be the president of the United States.
I’m honored to have met you at this time in history to discuss ways to stop the silence and protect women’s rights.
Your leadership is a torch for the world and in our hearts
It’s women like you that should and will rule the world.
@christinalamb’s article at the FRONT cover of @thetimes
״They wanted to terrorise us for generations to come and instil in us insecurity in the most basic way, and that’s why they targeted women in this way.” says Dr. Cochav Elkayam-Levy, an expert on international law at Hebrew university of Jerusalem who heads a civilian commission into Hamas crimes against women on October 7
Thank you @christinalamb for your historical piece 🙏
