On Ebola
A tiny error and ebola spreads across the republic. Deaths of citizens. Travel advisories. No visas for citizens. Tourists cancel. Layoffs. Economy takes a hit. Ebola spreads to schools. Schools must close. Chaos. Months. Elections cancelled. Orphans. Widows. Ujinga! ⚖️
Still true!
Our toddler, promised a sweet, amepeana kila kitu!
Every shiny sugary promise dangled, he'll take without thought. Only for him to turn around and spill on the carpet, break the toy, make a mess and demand more while the real toddlers cry in a corner.
Leteni mwiko!
Hate how as a Kenyan, everyday feels like we are parenting Kipchirchir through his presidency because he's a toddler that wants to mess up everything.
It's all "Wacha!" "Usiguze hio" "Usiuze hio" "Usiibe hio" "Usikule pesa ya education" "Nisikupate na terrorists" for fucks sake!
KEMSA just let cancer, HIV and Malaria drugs worth a billion shillings expire in their warehouses.
Maybe we're in hell guys. How can you even explain that?
Breaking:
Kenya has approved a US plan to set up an Ebola quarantine facility at a military base in Laikipia for Americans exposed to the outbreak in DR Congo.
Kenya had reportedly pushed for the facility to also serve other nationalities.
The prostitute country. No standards, no principles, no vision. In a few weeks, those of us who need to travel will face ebola-based restrictions from the very people who set it up here. The intellectual collapse of Kenya is probably the most painful thing in my lifetime
Healing looks like reading a book that describes exactly what you felt but could never say out loud, and finally feeling less alone.
If you are grieving, I recommend this book.

As always, a very top‑down and reactive response. No clear timeliness, neither for food distribution nor hospital bill coverage. And how do citizens track delivery? Zero accountability mechanism!
The ongoing flooding in parts of Nairobi and several other areas of our country has caused immense distress to many families, resulting in the tragic loss of lives, displacement of residents, and damage to homes, property, and livelihoods.
I extend my deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are also with all those whose lives have been disrupted by this disaster.
The Government stands in solidarity with every citizen affected, and we are acting swiftly to alleviate further suffering and safeguard lives.
To strengthen ongoing rescue and relief operations, I have directed the immediate deployment of a multi-agency emergency response team led by the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, working closely with the Kenya Defence Forces and other emergency response agencies. This team will coordinate rescue efforts, support affected communities, and ensure that those in danger are moved to safer locations.
I have also ordered that relief food from our national strategic reserves be immediately released and distributed to families affected by the floods.
In addition, the Government will meet the hospital bills of those injured or affected by the flooding and currently receiving treatment in public health facilities. Emergency humanitarian support will also be extended to families facing displacement and hardship during this period.
The national government is working closely with the Nairobi City County Government and other county administrations to ensure a coordinated response that prioritises the safety and wellbeing of our citizens.
At the same time, we recognise that these floods once again highlight the urgent need for lasting solutions to the perennial challenge of flooding in our urban areas.
The ongoing Nairobi River Regeneration Programme remains a critical part of our long-term strategy to restore river ecosystems, improve drainage systems, and reduce the risks associated with flooding within the city. These efforts will be strengthened and accelerated as part of our commitment to protecting lives, property, and the environment.
Sooner or later, bad governance catches up with everyone, regardless of tribe, religion, or race. The flooding has spared neither those in Runda nor those in Kibera. I hope what is happening in Nairobi serves as a wake-up call. When we take to the streets, we must finish the job.
Red Cross has sent notifications. Via text. (This is very important.) They've even sent a line we can call for info.
No messages from the county govt. None from any related national bodies. All are funded by OUR taxpayer moneys.
Then come election time, SMSs every hour.
Weird.
Tonight should have been a perfect day for Ruto and Sakaja to take a tour of Nairobi, so they experience firsthand, the consequences of their incompetence!
Nairobi is one large bathtub, not because it rained, but because we can’t manage effectively, the storm water.
Me and My Engineering Firm is ready to provide professional assistance and expertise, pro bono, to help them come up with effective solutions that will fix the flooding problem for good.
