Had the best time returning to my alma mater for @AEESP2023_NEU last week! Special congrats to my former advisor @philcasanova for his part in organizing such a great conference 🙌
A historic win for academia and union organization. Reflecting on all the hard work so many have put into this strike and I’m incredibly proud to have been a part of it. Solidarity, forever ✊🏽

Last night, the SRU-UAW and UAW 2865 Bargaining Teams voted to tentatively agree to new contracts for ASEs and Student Researchers. The teams, including myself personally, recommend you vote YES to ratify both agreements. The vote begins on Monday, 8AM. My feelings below. 1/n
Breaking News: Academic workers and the University of California reached a tentative labor deal, signaling an end to a monthlong strike over pay and benefits. https://t.co/NHSiQ2sN0p
Our unions, UAW 2865 and SRU-UAW just secured a BILLION dollar package by TAing a proposal from UC. As a direct result of our strike power, we forced President Drake to make major concessions!!! These include: (1/5)
I am an NSF fellow who already has to work 10 extra hours a week teaching to receive the same pay as other PhD students in my department. I am being PUNISHED for having a prestigious fellowship. Seeing this new proposal, I wholeheartedly recommend any fellows avoid UC schools.
BAY AREA: We’re in the second week of our strike, and while we’ve made some progress, UCOP has shown zero leadership. Join UC-UAW academic workers at Snow Park in Oakland, Monday the 28th at 1PM to march on UCOP and demand they bargain in good faith and settle fair contracts!
What a beautiful showing of solidarity from @lsjumb during halftime at the Big Game!
Students across California know that fair working conditions make better learning conditions. We will not be divided! #UAWonStrike
UC wants to limit and control our earnings by calling some of it “student support,” which would block part of our pay from being covered by our union contract. Watch this video and read 🧵 for more about why our total earnings must be included in our contract! (1/3) #UAWonStrike
“We’re here fighting for the heart of this university. For all the students who will pass through here for all of the workers who will come here after us, and for all of the people who benefit from the public mission of the university”
