ہار کر بھی مسکرانے والی ل��کی
نام تھا آمنہ
آمنہ لاہور کے ایک چھوٹے سے محلے میں رہتی تھی۔ باپ درزی تھا، ماں بیمار۔ گھر میں غربت، لیکن آمنہ کے چہرے پر ہمیشہ مسکراہٹ۔
میٹرک میں فیل ہو گئی۔ محلے کی عورتوں نے کہا، "اب گھر بیٹھ، شادی کر لے۔"
آمنہ نے ہنس کر جواب دیا، "فیل تو پیپر میں ہوئی ہوں، زندگی میں نہیں۔ اگلے سال پھر دوں گی۔"
2. ہار کی عادت
اگلے سال پاس ہو گئی، مگر کالج کی فیس نہیں تھی۔ اس نے صبح اسکول میں بچوں کو پڑھایا، شام کو سلائی کی۔ 3 سال لگ گئے ایف اے کرنے میں۔
نوکر ی کے لیے اپلائی کیا۔ 12 جگہ سے ریجیکٹ ہوئی۔ وجہ؟ "انگلش نہیں آتی"، "قد چھوٹا ہے"، "تجربہ نہیں ہے"۔
ہر ریجیکشن لیٹر کے بعد وہ آئینے کے سامنے کھڑی ہوتی، خود کو دیکھ کر کہتی، "آمنہ، ایک ہار اور سہی۔ مسکراہٹ ادھار نہیں ملتی۔" اور پھر ہنس دیتی۔
3. سب سے بڑی ہار
27 سال کی عمر میں رشتہ آیا۔ لڑکا بینک منیجر تھا۔ سب خ��ش تھے۔ منگنی ہو گئی۔ شادی سے 10 دن پہلے لڑکے والوں نے جہیز کی لسٹ بھیج دی: گاڑی، 5 تولہ سونا، فرنیچر۔
آمنہ کے باپ نے کہا، "بیچ دوں گا دکان، پر بیٹی کی عزت رکھ لوں گا۔"
آمنہ نے منگنی کی انگوٹھی اتار کر واپس کر دی۔ "ابا، جو رشتہ جہیز سے شروع ہو، وہ عزت پر ختم نہیں ہوتا۔"
بارات والے دن محلے والے افسوس کرنے آئے۔ آمنہ چائے بنا رہی تھی، مسکراتی ہوئی۔ "خالہ، رونا کیوں؟ میں تو بچ گئی۔"
4. جیت کا دن
30 سال کی عمر میں آمنہ نے اپنے محلے میں "مسکان اسکول" کھولا۔ 2 کمروں کا اسکول۔ فیس؟ "جو دے سکے۔ جو نہ دے سکے، وہ بھی پڑھے۔"
آج اس اسکول میں 400 بچیاں پڑھتی ہیں۔ آمنہ خود پرنسپل ہے۔ وہی لوگ جو کہتے تھے "فیل ہو گئی"، اب اپنی بیٹیاں اس کے پاس لاتے ہیں۔
پچھلے مہینے اسے "صوبے کی بہترین ٹیچر" کا ایوارڈ ملا۔ اسٹیج پر گئی، ایوارڈ پکڑا، اور کہا:
"میں 17 بار ہاری ہوں۔ 12 نوکریاں، 1 منگنی، 4 پیپر۔ اگر ہر ہار پر رونا شروع کر دیتی، تو آج آنسو ختم ہو جاتے۔ میں نے مسکرانا چنا، کیونکہ ہار وہی ہے جو آپ کو ہنسنا بھلا دے۔"
*5. آخری بات*
آج بھی آمنہ کی زندگی میں مسائل ہیں۔ ماں اب نہیں رہی، باپ بوڑھا ہے، اسکول کا کرایہ کبھی لیٹ ہو جاتا ہے۔
مگر اس کے چہرے کی مسکراہٹ لیٹ نہیں ہوتی۔ وہ کہتی ہے:
"زندگی نے مجھے ہرانے کی بہت کوشش کی۔ میں نے زندگی کو ہنس کر ہرا دیا

ایک بار ضرور پڑھیں

آج میں نے اپنے شہر کے باہر والے روڈ پر ایک عجیب منظر دیکھا، جو ہمارے معاشرے کا آئینہ ہے

میں بائیک پر کھڑا تھا کہ دو خواتین نے رکشہ بُک کیا۔ کرایہ طے ہونے لگا۔
رکشہ والے نے کہا: 250 روپے لگیں گے باجی
خواتین: نہیں بھائی، 200 سے ایک روپیہ اوپر نہیں دیں گی، بس!
کافی بحث کے بعد غریب رکشے والا 200 پر مان گیا۔ پسینہ بہا کر، محنت سے کمانے والا 50 روپے ہار گیا۔

خواتین رکشے میں بیٹھیں ہی تھیں کہ ایک بھکاری آ گیا۔ ہاتھ پھیلایا۔
اور بنا ایک لمحہ سوچے، اُن میں سے ایک خاتون نے پرس سے پچاس کا نوٹ نکال کر اُسے دے دیا۔

میں یہ سب دیکھ کر بس سوچتا رہ گیا...

جس رکشے والے نے دھوپ میں جل کر آپ کو منزل تک پہنچانا تھا، اُس سے 50 روپے کے لیے جھگڑا کر لیا۔
اور جس نے صرف ہاتھ پھیلایا، اُسے پچاس روپے فوراً دے دیے؟

یہ کیسی سوچ بن گئی ہے ہماری؟
محنت کی قیمت کم اور بھیک کی قیمت زیادہ کیوں ہو گئی ہے؟
کیا وہ رکشہ ڈرائیور اُس پچاس روپے کا زیادہ حقدار نہیں تھا جس نے پسینہ بہانا تھا؟

کبھی کبھی لگتا ہے ہم ہمدردی غلط جگہ دکھا رہے ہیں۔ محنت کش کو اُس کا حق دو، عزت دو۔ بھیک نہیں، روزگار کو فروغ دو۔۔۔۔۔۔

I usually don’t comment on Pakistani politics. I disagree with IK on many political issues. But this is not about politics- it’s about my children’s father, his human rights & international law. For the past few years, I’ve been bullied & harassed into silence by PML-N goons, including rape threats & countless conspiracy theories. Meanwhile Twitter/ X is banned in Pakistan, PTI party members & civilian supporters have been abducted, anyone with a platform who was speaking out is now in jail & silenced, Imran Khan’s photo and name have been censored on state television (they have even redacted his image from any coverage of Pakistan’s World Cup win of 92!)
I owe it to my children to try to create some awareness about what is happening in Pakistan. Please help in any way that you can. Thank you.

In the last few weeks there have been serious and concerning developments regarding my sons’ father, Imran Khan’s treatment in prison. The Pakistan authorities have stopped all visits to him by his family and his lawyers. They have also postponed all court hearings. In addition to cutting off in- person visits, and in defiance of a court order, his weekly calls to his sons, Sulaiman and Kasim Khan, who are British and who live in London, were stopped on 10th September. We have received reports that the authorities have now turned off the lights and electricity in his cell and he is no longer allowed to leave his cell at any time. The jail cook has been sent on leave. He is now completely isolated, in solitary confinement, literally in the dark, with no contact with the outside world. His lawyers are concerned about his safety and well-being.

These actions come in the context of ongoing targeting of Imran’s family, as well as his party (PTI) members and supporters in an attempt to silence them and all political opposition in Pakistan. Imran’s nephew, Hassan Niazi, a civilian, has been detained in military custody since August 2023. More recently, Imran Khan’s sisters, Uzma and Aleema Khan, who have continued to speak out on his behalf, have also been arrested as they made their way peacefully to a demonstration and they are currently being held in jail, despite there being no proper or lawful basis for their imprisonment.

In June this year the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention found that Imran is unlawfully and arbitrarily detained and called for his immediate release.

 As a matter of urgency , we are calling for Imran Khan’s release, and for the release of his sisters and nephew as well as for his sons’ contact with their father to be re-established, so that they may have assurance first-hand that he is well and not being mistreated.
