Anyone who is incredulous or negative about your interest in taking a mini-retirement is only reacting that way because they are too scared to admit they want one too.

What if we could have the growth without the trauma? What if you forced *yourself* out of your current life and environment?
Mini-retirements are a way to test yourself in a new world. And see what version of you comes out the other side!
Growth often comes after traumatic events. These events throw us out of our world and force us to establish ourselves in a new reality. And humans are resilient, so we grow to meet our new world.
Gaining time freedom (financial independence) is incredibly empowering and provides time abundance! 😌
While you work towards FI, negotiate with your employer for greater time freedom: shorter work weeks, flexible schedules, more pto, sabbaticals etc. 🔆
Sunday Scaries are a manifestation of *time freedom loss* more than anything else! ⌛️
After 2 days of self-determination about how we spend our day, the idea of our job dictating the next 5 days leaves us with an acute feeling of time scarcity. 😳
The feeling of time scarcity leads to anxiety and the sense of the clock ticking much too fast. ⏰
Not enough time left to relax, not enough time left to prepare, and certainly not enough time during the week to do either! 😣
So excited to have the first full episode of The Quit Work Podcast @quitworkproject live! This was a really fun conversation with Kristin from @MiniRetirements
Also. You can pick just 1 goal if you want. We don’t need to be a giant to do list. Successfully changing or improving 1 thing to make your life better is way more impactful than failing at 10 things.
Crazy idea, but hear me out. Let’s make 2022 New Year’s goals that we actually want to do. Let’s STOP guilting ourselves into things we don’t like doing and start doing MORE of the things we like doing and are already good at!
If you are 35 and haven’t started journaling yet maybe that’s not for you. That’s ok. Stop trying to change yourself and instead lean into the best parts of who you already are! Figure out how you already like to express yourself and do more of that!
We need to stop trying to be productive in everything we do, *especially* travel. Stop checking off your list. The world is too big, it’s absurd keeping score like you’re going to win at seeing the world. Instead, #slowtravel. Immerse yourself.
Let a place change you.
During Black Friday hoopla you will see a lot of “Buy experiences not things” advice. Yes. But also. “Buy time not things”. Save and invest so that your career no longer owns your time. #miniretirement#thegreatresignation
