We are stunned by the number of great entries we received for the “I Was Reincarnated as the Villainess in an Otome Game but the Boys Love Me Anyway!” Manga Music Video contest hosted by @SugoiMedia!
Here's the First Place winner of the contest. 😊
Thank you to all who entered!
@bijanbwb Thank you for the kind comment!
Something I've come to value highly is that nothing is truly ever impossible. The work involved might be more than I want to commit and Fear - real or not - impacts my willingness to walk a certain path, but those can and do change with time.
@bijanbwb Unexpected problems or benefits?
YES!
pros:
- expanded my horizons more than any time previously
- learned a lot about myself, and my own values
- worst-case scenarios are overblown
- I can be a better dev/manager today
cons:
...
...
tackling my own personal anxieties?
@bijanbwb Hard to get back in?
Professionally? no, plenty of recruiters still asking if I'm interested. Mentally though, yes - I had sort of built a mental wall around the idea of coding seriously again, and every time the thought crossed my mind, I actually felt a little anxious.
@Real_Kilometers Loove me some sudowoodos lol, still remember the way they wiggle when you interacted with them.
Also, is that frame from electric tale of pikachu? If so, huge throwback as that was probably my very first print manga I ever had!
Too many tech companies' interview process is at least partially designed & implemented to make the *interviewer* feel smart & secure about the job they have.
Interviewers ought to approach interviews with an attitude of curiosity & assessment rather than hierarchy & judgement.
New Episode just dropped!
Inspired by recent events, we chat about the ethical side of tech!

We've made the decision to remove the PogChamp emote following statements from the face of the emote encouraging further violence after what took place in the Capitol today.
@ANguyening Given that framing, I'd say ANY refactoring not part of the original estimate is scope creep - but is perhaps more readily Acceptable scope creep.
Now if your question went something like: At what point is refactoring no longer worthwhile scope-creep, thats a different answer :P
@ANguyening Scope creep isn't Inherently Bad. It gets a bad rap, sure, especially with missed deadlines, but on it's own what IS scope creep?
It's any time a Dev or otherwise has realized the initial understanding of the problem is inadequate, and now needs to include some new facet.
Why does Your Manager’s Manager (YMM) request a deck/doc during a meeting, says it’s urgent, and then doesn’t respond for days after you create & send it?
Or, why does YMM often respond with trivial feedback (e.g. formatting) & not substantive feedback?
