Last fall, I had the opportunity to meet Ms. Ruby Duncan, who recently passed away. Ruby was a strong advocate who fought state government and Las Vegas Casino executives to give working mothers in Las Vegas opportunities and restore benefits. She was an inspiration, and I was lucky to have met her and learned about her story.
Miss Ruby Duncan devoted her life to advocating for families in need. With the organization she founded, Operation Life, she led an impactful protest on the Las Vegas Strip that pressured the state to reverse cuts to critical social programs and worked to bring resources and opportunity to the Historic Westside, including the neighborhood’s first library.
I’m honored to have known Miss Ruby and am thinking of her family and loved ones as we mourn her passing and celebrate her incredible life. Her legacy is proof that when you care about your community and fight for it, you can make a real difference and lasting impact.
Heartbroken to learn that Ruby Duncan has passed. I have known & loved Ruby since I was a teenager. I'm honored to have called her a friend. She helped make this community a better place to live for all of us. She fought for those who needed help. She will be greatly missed.
We held a round table in Ely and one thing was made clear: the Lombardo-Trump economy is failing working families.
As Governor, I will prioritize lowering costs and sign pro-worker legislation that uplifts Nevada workers and put families first.
First day off our statewide tour, and I spent this morning serving breakfast to the nurses of @SEIU1107.
Our health care workers deserve leaders who understand their challenges and stand with them. That’s the approach I’ve taken as Attorney General, and it’s the approach I’ll bring to the Governor’s office — fighting for good-paying jobs, safer workplaces, and a Nevada where working families can build a future and retire with dignity.
I'm a proud father, husband, former public school math teacher, and Nevada Attorney General.
My name is Aaron Ford, and I’m running for Governor to build a Nevada where every family in every neighborhood can get ahead.
My dream was to bring together my entire family and I did just that.
The descendants of my 5th great grandmother came together for the first time in history. She had 9 children who had children of their own.
Physically divided from the rest of the city—first by the railroad, then by the interstate—the Historic Westside community thrived despite segregation.
The history of the Westside is Las Vegas history, and it’s an essential part of the city’s story. ✨
Organizers said there’s no question about it—race was a factor—and called for all residents to get involved to seek justice for DURHAM’s death.
“We say Vegas Strong but are we really strong right now?” @MinisterStretch said. “No. We Vegas weak.”
“If we don’t get no justice, we gone shut it down,” chanted rally goers in downtown Las Vegas at the Fremont Experience.
The march is in response to BRANDON DURHAM’s unjustified killing by Metro police after he called 911 for help.
A crowd marches for Brandon Durham, 43, who was shot and killed by a Las Vegas police officer in his home after reporting a break-in on Nov. 12. https://t.co/TSmDa8IiuW
BRANDON DURHAM is the realtor fatally shot by a Metro officer Nov 12 after calling police for help.
No arrests have been made and law enforcement is focused on “background investigations.” This led organizers to plan a rally outside Las Vegas City Hall today. 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾
