@HMRCcustomers Thank you. They do have an NI number and a British passport so I guess they can use online self assessments?. Would this still be SA1 or CW form - they would like to register as self employed/sole trader

@HMRCcustomers If a foreign National is doing business in the UK and needs to get a UTR so they can pay tax - can they apply with their foreign address? Or would they need a UK address?

If they need a UK address, can this be their UK place of work?

@HMRCcustomers The person has been employed in the UK before and now wants to go self employed so I guess they would have an NI number from when they were employed before. What they don’t have is a UK address

@HMRCcustomers That link is worded as if an account needs reactivating. My original question was how does a foreign National who wants to work self employed (as a sole trader) in UK get a UTR and register for self assessment - especially if they don’t have a UK address.
