The first day of July brings the Fourth Annual Minnesota State NIL Update!!! Once again, we are building upon the previous Quote Tweet Thread from Year Three, which did the same from Year Two, and so forth, so you can more easily see the progress over the past quadrennium.
It's that time...time for our Third Annual Minnesota State NIL Update!!! We are building upon tradition and Quote Tweeting the Year Two thread, which itself Quote Tweeted the Year One thread. So it's like an Escher tweet thread. (Bonus points if you get that reference.) (1/x)
In an email shared with NAIA members today, the COP Executive Committee decided to withdraw its legislative proposal around five seasons of competition.
The decision comes one week after NCAA DII membership referred its own five seasons proposal back to its governance structure.
Proposal 2026-15 would implement the use of the NCAA Power Index (NPI) for championship selection in team sports beginning in the 2026-27 academic year. This proposal passes with 294 votes.
Now our Director of Athletics, Kevin Buisman, presents Proposal 2026-13 which would seek to establish non-championship contests for the sport of softball. Currently, teams must use their 3 discretionary exemptions or games from their championship season if they want falls games.
