Thevadiyal: You may have heard this word from your surroundings, from your peers, from your parents, from cinemas or anywhere else. This can be called the most offensive term used to disgrace a female in the Tamil language.
Mother-in-law jokes. Nagging wife jokes. Female driver jokes. None of them is 'funny'. When we make them, laugh at them, or remain silent when they are cracked, we end up normalising patriarchal stereotypes.
Learn to call out such 'jokes', even if it a friend cracking them.
