@vinguistic Suzi Q is another great example because even when she's older, you can still tell that it's Suzi Q without just having it be a copy-paste with grey hair instead of blonde

crazy to think that the first words ever spoken by the part 9 JoJo MC was about Dua Lipa

According to Ryosuke Kabashima, Araki's first editor, Araki traveled overseas for research before starting Part 9 #TheJOJOLands.

Araki considered whether Giorno should have vampiric traits when creating Part 5
- Interview with Hiroshi Sekiya (Araki's Editor, 1994-1995)
- From JOJOVELLER: History (September 19, 2013)

—Do you know how Part 5 was conceptualized?
𝗦𝗲𝗸𝗶𝘆𝗮: From the get-go, we wanted the story to take place in Italy. However, the protagonist had to be part of the Joestar Family, so even Araki-sensei wasn't sure how to make it work at first. I (jokingly) asked him if he wanted to have Joseph have yet another affair, but we both ultimately decided that'd be a terrible idea (laughs).

—So you went with a different angle and made the protagonist DIO's child?

𝗦𝗲𝗸𝗶𝘆𝗮: DIO's body belongs to Jonathan, so he is part of the Joestar Family. In our initial meetings, we also discussed aspects of him being the child of a vampire, such as making him afraid of sunlight. Or perhaps he would 'tingle' when exposed to it. Araki-sensei also likes jokes, so we had a lot of those kind of tidbits in the character sheets. The last thing I'd like to mention is that he wanted the protagonist to be a woman.

The JOJOLands Chapter 6:
"Whipped myself up some Chicken Parmesan. It tasted amazing after I squeezed a lemon on it."
- Hirohiko Araki, Ultra Jump August 2023

The JOJOLands Chapter 5:
"You know plastic wrap, right? The type that comes in those boxes. Do not, under any circumstances, let the plastic fall off the blade and slip back into the box. At that point, it's all over. Like basically the end of the world."
- Hirohiko Araki, Ultra Jump July 2023

Part 9 news: In the new volume of The JOJOLands, there are a few interesting changes:

1. Dragona's favorite breakfast food has been changed from a watermelon to papaya.

2. Several Stand spellings were changed: November Rain's spelling has been changed from "ノーベンバー・レイン" (Nōbenbā Rein) to "ノーヴェンバー・レイン" (Nōvenbā Rein). Smooth Operators has gotten a "・" added between "Smooth" and "Operators" and "The Hustle" was changed to "THE ハッスル" (THE Hassuru)

3. Lastly, there seems to be a change to Jodio's mental diagnosis. In the Ultra Jump release Jodio mentions he was diagnosed with Anti-Social Personality Disorder, meaning he's a psychopath. But in the volume release, this is changed to Jodio saying he was diagnosed with ASPD, questioning if this means he's a psychopath.
