Deeply saddened to learn about the passing away of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in Dhaka.
Our sincerest condolences to her family and all the people of Bangladesh. May the Almighty grant her family the fortitude to bear this tragic loss.
As the first woman Prime Minister of Bangladesh, her important contributions towards the development of Bangladesh, as well as India-Bangladesh relations, will always be remembered.
I recall my warm meeting with her in Dhaka in 2015. We hope that her vision and legacy will continue to guide our partnership.
May her soul rest in peace.
Barrister Zaima Rahman’s return today is more than a homecoming—it’s the BNP’s strategic play for the Gen Z vote. Can her global legal perspective bridge the gap between legacy and the post-uprising youth? A defining moment for Bangladesh’s future.

I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support shown for Sharif Osman Hadi by the Bangladeshi people. The huge peaceful gathering at the National Parliament to celebrate his life and honor his death was a powerful rebuke to those trying to portray Bangladesh as a nation in flames.
Those who sought to silence Hadi have only amplified his voice. Those who sought to frustrate Bangladesh's democratic transition have only reinforced its importance. Those who sought to divide the country have only united it in grief and in resolve.
Sharif Osman Hadi's life and death will serve as an inspiration to the millions of young Bangladeshis who want to build a better future and chart their own destiny.
When it comes to picking sides, I know which one I will choose. I stand with those who stand with Hadi.
One of the biggest questions in South Asian politics the last year has been when Tarique Rahman will return to Bangladesh. The BNP leader has finally announced he’ll return Dec 25. This week @ForeignPolicy I discuss what this means for BD politics. https://t.co/hijyMhhXek
Can anyone explain why Indian media is obsessed with an imaginary islamist takeover in Bangladesh but silent about their new best Taliban friends? If they are worried about Islamic extremism, terrorism, elections and minority rights, wouldn’t it make more sense to deal with Kabul?
Hundreds of thousands gathered at Manik Mia Avenue today for the namaz-e-janaza of Sharif Osman Hadi. The Inqilab Moncho spokesperson & July uprising hero was honored by a massive crowd following Zuhr prayers. Rest in power. 🇧🇩

Tarique Rahman’s return on Dec 25 is the official start of the BNP’s election engine.
His physical presence in Dhaka after 17 years shifts the BNP from "virtual leadership" to active, on-the-ground campaigning. The party’s grassroots have been waiting for it ahead of the polls

Interim govt calls past contracts “one-sided”, suspends subsidies, risks arbitration. A rare case of unwinding energy cronyism in South Asia

United we are strong, divided we fall.
