Had a productive interaction with the Mirchi leadership team led by Shri Prabhu Jha, Senior Vice President, Mirchi Network, along with RJ Gaurab Bora and Shri Maitreya Biswas. We discussed creative ways to cultivate reading habits among the youth and make Assamese literature more engaging and accessible.

As envisioned by Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. @himantabiswa , the Government of Assam has declared 2025 as the Year of Books- an effort to rekindle the joy of reading across the state.

Under this initiative:

• One thousand youth who have demonstrated literary skills will receive a one-time grant of ₹25,000 each.

• 20 Granth Melas (Book Exhibitions) will be organised across 20 districts and 20 Co-districts, each supported by a ₹5 lakhs and ₹2.5 lakhs grant respectively.

• Over four lakh government employees will receive ₹1,000 each to encourage book purchases and build personal libraries.

• The State has also appealed to citizens to exchange books as gifts during social and family gatherings throughout the year.

To take this movement further, the Government of Assam looks forward to partnering with Radio Mirchi in designing a series of innovative campaigns that celebrate Assamese literature, spotlight local authors, and inspire a new generation of readers.

Together, let’s turn the Year of Books into a people’s movement — one that nurtures curiosity, celebrates creativity, and strengthens Assam’s cultural and intellectual fabric.

Indian Army Pulverizes Terrorist Launchpads

As a response to Pakistan's misadventures of attempted drone strikes on the night of 08 and 09 May 2025 in multiple cities of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab, the #Indian Army conducted a coordinated fire assault on terrorist launchpads, pulverizing & razing them to cinders.
The terrorist launchpads, located close to the Line of Control, were a hub for planning and executing terror attacks against Indian civilians and security forces in the past. The Indian Army's swift and decisive action has dealt a significant blow to terrorist infrastructure and capabilities.
