We use airtankers to drop retardant or water to help slow down the progress of a wildfire. This year, Alberta Wildfire has increased capacity by adding two Q-4000 airtankers to its fleet. Learn more about how we fight wildfires: https://t.co/bz9vNuyofQ
Fire advisories are now in effect for the Calgary, Edson, Fort McMurray and Rocky Mountain House forest areas due to dry conditions. Advisories limit how fire permits are issued. For more info, and to view a map of the advisory boundaries, please visit https://t.co/gfHp6K1gTo

Alberta’s wildfire season is starting early this year. This means that fire permits are now required for burning within the Forest Protection Area, except for a campfire. Drought conditions in Alberta could lead to elevated fire danger.
The interior of active wildfires can flare up as previously unburnt vegetation catches fire. This is a normal occurrence. Firefighters are monitoring these fires and working to put out hot spots. There is no need to report flame or smoke in these areas.
It RAINED!
A number of our large, out-of-control, smoke generating wildfires (and those threatening communities) have received a lot of rain over the past 24 hours.
This will greatly help with firefighting efforts on those fires.
Still dry across the far north. #ABfire #ABwildfire #abstorm

@OilersNation Not oilers related but still irks me....why does the city insist on windrows in residential communities? Just leave the snow where it is!
