In an alternate dimension, I’d be a Fraggle. In this one, I’m a mother of three, a lifelong Cubs fan, and a full-time professional in children’s mental health.
Riddle me this, Batman: how does one make a country great again, while simultaneously flouting its laws and potentially engaging in espionage against that same country?
Asking for a friend…
Wow. Just watched the new Netflix version of Persuasion. It was so awful that I’m speechless. Perhaps the worst Austen film adaptation I’ve ever seen (and I’ve seen just about all of them).
@sarojacoelho Thank you for acknowledging the pain and hurt caused by those flying swastikas and symbols of threatened genocide in our nation's capital.
@OttawaHealth@CounsellingConx It’s disappointing that you left out the Jewish community. Swastikas and images evoking Nazi Germany are symbols of threatened genocide, and are deeply triggering and traumatizing to the Jewish community.
@TahiraOsman4 My money is on him having ended up in London, racking up gambling debts and then going all-out libertine fortune hunter. First step, land an heiress. Second step, stir up trouble in Sanditon as revenge.
@TahiraOsman4 C catches the eye of both a lord (or wealthy gentleman) and a rising entrepreneur. She needs to choose between the old English societal hierarchy or the new society growing from the rise of industry. (2/2) #sanditonpbs#sanditon
@TahiraOsman4 My theory: time jump. S&E are off touring the Continent, Mary invites C to visit (no worries about S&C crossing paths). G is of age and independent. Sanditon is fashionable, and T doesn’t know what to do next. (1/2)
5. because TJ left the show. It’s because Sidney Parker is not coming back, and that feels like a betrayal of Jane Austen as much as of our fight for S2.
So please, I beg of you, stop telling us about new “hotties”. Reassure us that this is still Austen inspired. #sanditonpbs

1. I woke up this morning with the words to describe my reaction to Sidney being written out of #sanditon. It’s not because a very attractive actor is not returning, which is why reassurances about new “hotties” land flat with me.
4. We watched Sidney grow. We watched Charlotte grow. In JA stories, this ALWAYS indicates that characters are going to wind up together. It’s not about hotness. Yes, the chemistry burned up the screen, but that was a nice bonus. The sense of betrayal, IMO, is not
@paulajaynebyrne aren’t perfect or flat. It is her minor characters in her novels, with their inability to reflect and grow, that provide the satire and the comic relief (Mrs. Palmer, Mr. Collins, James Thorp, Mrs. Bennett, etc). (2/2)
@paulajaynebyrne Persuasion is also a story about introspection. Both a
Anne and Wentworth have moments of looking back at their past actions and thoughts, and reflecting on how those contributed to both their rupture and reconnection. JA gave us lead characters that (1/2)
it will still be a phenomenal period drama. I have faith in the writers and returning cast that S2/S3 will be worth the wait. But I’m no longer sure I would still call it an Austen adaptation. And that’s a shame. (2/2) #sanditonpbs
I’m over TJ leaving #Sanditon. My preference is that they #RecastSidneyParker so that we don’t lose the character and the plot arc that we fell in love with over only 8 eps. If S2/S3 shift gears and focus on new love interests for Charlotte, I have no doubt (1/2)
