How deeply upsetting and disturbing.

I had to take a big intake of breath reading this as these words perfectly describes what is the lived experience of many black women.

The donor did not just reportedly say that looking at Diane Abbott makes you "want to hate all black women" but allegedly added the MP "should be shot".

Firstly, as a journalist it has been awful reporting and reading on the misogynoir Ms Abbott faces on a constant basis. Receiving death threats and rape threats... for what?? What reason?? What has Ms Abbott ever really done that warrants such hate and abuse?

Black women reading this will know what she has done. Black women reading this shocking article would have lived this and know why the abuse doesn't stop.

The abuse, discrimination and harassment we face starts as children and goes on into adulthood.

I have faced discrimination throughout my life and I salute @guardian for breaking a deeply serious story which speaks to so many black women.

Hopefully, the abuse against @HackneyAbbott will stop 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
