do yall not hear how condescending and microaggressive yall are when you say hudson are for blockbuster flicks and cant be prestige and artsy like his WHITE costar because he goes out of his way to make his name known out there? and for a poc content creator to say this too
I kinda (not rlly icl) understand why people are upset with this but at the same time…. Connor didn’t do shit??? Like bro might just not know it’s not it Russia? Theyre also talking about Texas?? Ntm the interviewer brought it up?
I have so much to say about the François situation but I'm terrified of the hate I might get from #them. I'm still sharing my main points though because this is pissing me off. this post may not be the most developed because I don't have the space in this tweet nor the bravery to post my actual full response list. here's the main points, though, like I said:
- the negative reaction to him being "weird" is ableist and indicates lack of acceptance for those that don't fit into perceived
social norms, even if that not fitting in isn't actually harmful.
- the framing of their dislike for his weirdness is the same framing that is used to judge neurodivergent people for deviation from the norm. people who deviate are seen as untrustworthy, no matter how small their deviation is.
- yes he initially compared hr to porn but so did jacob, rachel, and christina. the screenshots and interviews exist, go find them.
- it makes sense that he would hesitate, he's a successful actor and hr had a budget of 20 canadian dollars and some rubber bands. it was also only supposed to exist in canada originally. he's not necessarily A-list, but consistently employed, so it makes sense.
- a HUGE chunk of this is related to biphobia and the expectation of queer people to be perfectly aligned with expectations.
- it is insanely convenient that yall are attacking the only openly queer member of the cast and exalting the two not-out ones.
- continuously twisting his words and actions to suit your narrative indicates a pattern of purposeful mischaracterization and manipulation rather than good faith.
- a lot of yall don't like him because you think he gets in the way of hudcon so you're treating him like "the woman in the way" of a gay ship (in this case, it's hudcon)
- accusing him of not being actually bisexual is insane and biphobic.
- assuming f and c can't just be friends is fetishization of queer men.
- calling f a predator with no proof mirrors the accusations that used to be thrown very often at gay men in the past. even if you don't intend for that, it blurs the line between consensual adult relationships and actual abuse. that slowly introduces the idea of queer sexuality itself being suspicious, immoral, and dangerous- leading to queer people being seen as untrustworthy or unsafe.
- calling him predatory also waters down actual predation and, in turn, people are able to use it as a weapon to hurt anyone they don't like.
- c is a grown ass man with a fully developed prefrontal cortex, not a baby or a child in any way. the condescension towards him is parasocial and ageist.
- you don't know these people, it is not your job to save a fully grown adult from another fully grown adult.
- f is not automatically predatory because he's older, that's also ageist. plus, he's been in the industry for over 10 years but hasn't really had any issues and is friends with most of his exes.
- harassing all of these people, even ones who aren't related to the issue at hand, is genuinely evil and you are a bad person if you are participating in it. full stop.
- I also wanted to establish that, if your takeaway from this is "she's defending predators" instead of "stop accusing people of serious harm/shitty behavior with zero evidence and stop fucking harassing people," that's a reading comprehension issue, not a me issue.
