Years ago, I was at a church service where a Deeper Life pastor was asked a question about how the church’s doctrine had changed over time. Things that were not allowed in the 1990s are now permitted. What changed?
The pastor responded by telling us a story.
He said he was once part of the pioneer evangelism department of Deeper Life, and at the time, they were extremely committed to the idea of doing God’s work. The belief was that nothing should come between you and God’s work, not your career, personal desires, ambitions, or even your dreams.
Then he got admission to study Medicine at a university.
He was preparing to leave when some of the leaders in the evangelism department questioned his decision. They asked why he wanted to abandon God’s work to go to university. He struggled with the decision for days because becoming a medical doctor had always been his dream. Many of his colleagues had already sacrificed their own educational and career ambitions because they believed that nothing, not even their dreams, should come before the work of God, as it was a general believe in that department.
Eventually, he decided to go to university.
Years later, he told us he was grateful that he made that decision. Some of the people who had chosen to remain in the ministry and abandon their own dreams eventually regretted it as they got older. The truth is, many religious doctrines are products of ignorance, shaped by the limitations of the people who created and propagated them.
Church doctrine can have a profound impact on someone's life, especially when people follow it without question
In hospitals, you see patients refuse certain treatments or procedures because of religious beliefs. Some choose prayer alone when a particular medical treatment is necessary.
As a Christian, your ultimate focus should be God, not the institution, not the denomination, and certainly not every doctrine or tradition created by men.
Faith should not require you to switch off your ability to think.
A lot of people have made major life decisions, abandoned opportunities, neglected their health, or sacrificed their dreams because they believed a particular church doctrine was synonymous with the will of God.
Many of the churches that once held certain doctrines as unquestionable have since changed their positions. So what happens to the people who made major, sometimes irreversible, life decisions because they trusted those same doctrines?
As a Christian do not be a fool, do not die because of a doctrine you were introduced to.
This JW partial reversal on blood transfusions is a reminder of why church and personal doctrine should never be placed above the Bible. People have died.
Whoever advised the FG to come up with CEmONC (Comprehensive Emergency Obstetrics and Neonatal Care) really did well.
I can't count the number of women that has recieved cesarean section, blood transfusion, MVA, and so on for FREE. It will really help reduce maternal mortality.
Sexual sin is when you’re fornicating consensually o. As in Lust was driving the both of you, and e come cast. You’re wounded soldiers and the church can kumbaya with you.
But you’re taking advantage of people’s trust and assaulting them as per Pastor? You’re a criminal!

A woman was in a coma in the hospital, and she was continuously raped until she got pregnant. The hospital found out and carried out investigations and found out a male employee has been raping her all the while she was in coma.
A 3 year old baby was raped by a grown man.
A homeless mad woman on the street was raped by a man.
A lady who was fully covered was raped by a man.
A lady who was sleeping on her bed in her own home was raped and killed.
A daughter was raped by her own father.
I can go on and on…
But once these heartbreaking stories make it to the media, some of you immediately start looking for ways to blame the victim, talking about
“women need to learn how to avoid being abused”
“Maybe she’s this, maybe she’s that”
Are you people crazy?
Instead of teaching men that no matter what, even if they see a woman walking naked, they still have no right to touch or abuse or rape her.
The women in all the scenarios above, how exactly were they supposed to avoid being raped?
Make it make sense.

Today marks a week of the mass abduction of students and teachers in Oyo state and they’re still in captivity deep in the forest.
This includes a 2 years old kid.
We must not stop talking about them till they’re all back home safely.
You cannot rehabilitate a person that beheads a person.
You cannot rehabilitate someone that offs people for sport.
You cannot rehabilitate someone that kidnaps and rapes children.
