The readings are a selection – the field is huge. It is also the first part of a two-semester sequence. However, they may still be useful for those interested in the topic.
What Are Podcasts For, Anyway?
In Kasurian's latest essay, What Are Podcasts For, Anyway? Mariam Mahmoud asks the question on everyone's minds.
Over the past century, audio has transformed from a new sensory art form and a tool of collective storytelling to something that can't quite be named, but unsettles the spirit.
Nowhere is this more apparent than in the Muslim podcast ecosystem, where conspiratorial bombshells, grievance-baiting, and urgency theatre bombard its listeners with sensationalism that serves to disorder, rather than elevate, their minds.
It is into this pernicious ecosystem that ‘More Muslim’, a new podcast produced by alums of the golden age of podcasts, and hosted by Islamic scholar, Georgetown professor, and founding director of Mujadilah, a women’s mosque and intellectual institution in Doha, Qatar, that Dr. Sohaira Siddiqui arrives.

Julian Casablancas at Coachella: "I was tempted to come out tonight with a laptop and show you guys some of those Iran LEGO videos. You guys see those? Very good. More facts than your local news. But they were taken down. YouTube or government or whatever. They took that sh*t down. Land of the free, am I right?"

UNUSUAL
Indonesia is pursuing its interests in both the East and the West.

At the Pentagon, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth received his Indonesian counterpart, as U.S. officials are seeking to secure his signature on an agreement that would grant the United States full permission for its military aircraft to pass through Indonesia’s airspace.

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.
I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.
It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC.
May God bless America.
