@fins0905@mmehdikhani70 Morphy just played leagues above his contemporaries, making him seem relatively invincible.
We have, however, exhaustive technical proof that N.R is superhuman. And whilst he does make faults, they're so slight and infrequent that they don't offset his perfect reputation (2/2)
@fins0905@mmehdikhani70 Or to point out that the second best of an era tends to overestimate the powers of the very best of said era, when put in universal terms ๐
The difference is that we know by technical proof that Morphy didn't play perfect chess. Very far from it. (1/2)
@anishgiri here is an absolutely insane line the engine gives as 0.00 (again, assuming both sides miss wins, especially white w/ Qxe3+)
Rh6+ Kxg5 Qh4+ g4+ Kf4 Qh2+ (Kxf3 wins, but instead): Kg5 Rh5+ Kg6 Rh6+ Kg7 Rh7+ Kf6 Qh6+ Ke5 Qxe3+ Kd5 Qe4+ Kc5 b4+ Kb5 bxa5 d5 c4+ dxc4 f4 (0.00 ๐คฃ๐คฃ)
@anishgiri if you look with a computer at lines where white for some stupid reason doesn't just play Qxe3+ and wins by forced mate ... they all get very wacky and intriguing. obviously just playing the mate is correct. but for curiosity, the other lines are very interesting. worth a look.
@anishgiri oh my goodness ... you have Qxe3+ after Kxg5 ๐๐, which I totally missed. then it's just Kf5 g4#.
ok. great.
you can safely ignore all my earlier calculations from a person who just couldn't spot Qxe3+ to save his life ๐ญ
@anishgiri Rh6+ Kxg5 Qh4+ Kf5 Rh5+ Kg6, I don't see mate?
Unless the idea is Qh5+ instead of Rh5+? but then Kf4 and I still don't see any mates. Does it later after g3+? I cant calculate that far in my head.
Maybe you wanna just take the queen on a5? but black has lots of pieces? hmmmmm.
@EmilSutovsky And then I thought about Magnus and his flawless knowledge of chess history, and how easily he would answer such questions. Yet, Sindarov may one day usurp Magnus if he doesn't let up in improvement. It shows we're entering a new Zeitgeist for what is required to be the best.
@EmilSutovsky I also noticed Sindarov in an interview before the Candidates failing to answer basic questions about chess history, such as which opponents did Fischer overcome near-perfectly in the 1971 candidates?
Which year did Alekhine beat Capablanca? etc etc.
@OpenAI Please can the ChatGPT technical consider a 'bulk unarchive' button or feature? I imagine it would be trivial to integrate, but it would make life so much easier for other users like me who have fallen into this trap.
Thank you so much.
Really hope this gets seen ๐ @OpenAI
@OpenAI
I've just accidentally, and super annoyingly, archived all of my ChatGPT conversations with one fell swoop. And now I realize to my dismay that you can only unarchive them 1 by 1, which is super long and tedious; especially since I have hundreds of conversations (1/2)
@SusanPolgar Why would you feel tempted to block someone making a level-headed observation about your style of writing? Do you know who else does that?
@SusanPolgar@sacthequeen "Because it's none of our business?" could easily be written as "Because an inquest hasn't been heard, and we should respect the family's privacy until then". Same content, more respectful, less passive aggressive.
@SusanPolgar@sacthequeen I wonder why you're standoffish in nearly everything you reply to, Susan? If you look at your replies with the highest engagement, you'll see that my observation holds. It is possible to answer things intelligently without needing to be sharp/assertive every time. Look at Judit.
