People with Misophonia suffer in silence; ironically silence is all we want sometimes. Here to raise awareness & maybe laugh along the way - you're not alone!
Checking the weather and seeing rain predicted for the next few days means peace and quiet outside for a while 😌
Sorry folks but that kind of weather means a respite from noise & I love it!
Bring on the rain!!!

@misophoniatoday I have too many to mention, it’s mentally draining.
I have all the usual ones as well as some visual triggers (I have Misokinesia as well).
A friend making ‘mmm’ noises of appreciation at EVERY single mouthful is one of the nastiest.
At its worst it makes me want to self hurt.
Music can be so calming and help in many occasions but when a song has finger clicking or it repeats the same line more than two or three times in a row (which is just lazy/ poor song writing anyway) it can be a trigger.
I like working from home, it means I don't have some of my triggers constantly going off; headphones are one of the few ways to protect yourself.

@youneedcoolin I didn’t find them as bad as Pink. Hers trigger me more, a shame as I actually love most of her songs but once I hear that first sharp intake the rest of the song has to be skipped 😞
If I sing along it covers it & is the only way I can listen, but that’s not always practical 😅
Music helps relax me but every so often I’ll notice the vocalist sucks in their breath with each line they sing.
It’s small, normally unnoticeable but once I hear it, I can’t NOT hear it.
That song then becomes dead to me. 😭

@neonfiona You hid my comment on YouTube & I wasn’t being critical just asking for support from a fellow Miso sufferer, but please put trigger warnings on your video if there’s drinking.
It can be the sound and/ or visual that triggers people & it’d be nice to be forewarned.
Thanks.
An interesting read re. the links to OCD with Misophonia.
I have some OCD tendencies and can definitely relate.

Please don’t suffer alone, even if you can’t open up to friends or family there are plenty of groups online to join & talk to others that also suffer from Miso.
Just getting something off your chest & talking to like minded people can be so liberating.

When lockdown started it was peaceful & an amazing relief from being triggered constantly.
Sunny days are nice, but inconsiderate people have some of us wishing for rain to escape our triggers.
Hopefully one day there will be a cure.

Sometimes it’s misophonia, sometimes it’s people just being incredibly rude and eating like a hippo in a pool of jelly.
Closing your mouth while you eat cost nothing & please don’t talk with your mouth full either 😤

Obviously I dont stop people leading their lives but definitely some behaviours of others are inconsiderate (don’t have your car radio on loudly at 2am for example).
Knowing people are being inconsiderate sometimes can make things a lot worse.

Here are just 3 small triggers.
They sound daft written down but unfortunately are a reality I’m trying to cope with; triggers can be anything.
- People talking loudly outside my home
- Birds squawking
- Car radios left on loudly for all to hear

Hating people with the intensity of a thousand suns is part of the struggle.
You don’t actually hate them, but during whatever event has triggered you a blind rage appears.
Wear earphones or if you can move away.

Sadly some people will use your Misophonia against you, which is why some sufferers don’t tell people about it as we worry we’ll be mocked or belittled.
If someone trusts you enough to open up about it please be supportive and never use it against them.
