A6: From Alike, I feel that it was trying to show that education should be empowering and engaging. The child was clearly not empowered or engaged at school. He lost his color because of that, but gained it back while having fun&being creative with his dad #tchedbirds#tch296
A5: This story spoke to the needs of young adolescent learners by showing that if you force students to learn one way, they will lose their sparkle and unique creativity that makes them them #tchedbirds#tch296
A4: A risk I want to take in my teaching is to create multiple ways for students to complete lessons or activities. Since every student is unique, I want to give them unique ways to learn, too. #tchedbirds#tch296
A3: Alike showed that it’s okay to be different. Not everyone learns in a “cookie cutter” type way, and that’s perfectly okay. Being different is what makes everyone exciting and “colorful” in their own ways. #tchedbirds#tch296
A2: In Alike, when the characters colors started to fade, that reminded me of what it feels like to get burnt out in school. There have been a few years when I have been so burnt out by the end of the year that I feel sad, grey, &boring like the characters #tchedbirds#tch296
#TCH296 A5: One of my goals during clinicals is to get a good idea of how to create different lessons. Another big goal of mine is to kind of train myself to not freak out or freeze up if something goes wrong in class!
#TCH296 A4: In middle school I remember learning about types of sediment because we had to find some answers on our own, so that's why that topic stayed with me.
#TCH296 A3: I remember getting some fill in the blank questions when I was in middle school. I think that instead of having those questions, having more group conversations/inquiry in the classroom would have made more of an impact.
#TCH296 A2: I will make connections with students in my clinicals by just talking to them and making conversation. On the first day of clinicals I would ask a small group of kids a simple question like "do you guys drink Starbucks" and they loved talking about anything!
#TCH296 A1: I have been telling myself and realizing that I won't be able to do absolutely everything as a teacher no matter how much part of me wants to. I've been reminding myself to take a step back every once in a while to remind myself that I am doing the best I can.
A5: students talk with each other and can get really connected with their creations and that helps them to learn more skills for future projects! #learnlap
A2: some communication skills students can use while doing Mario maker is talking with other students and sharing their ideas and learning from that! #learnlap
A1: This game is all about getting creative and making changes, just like how it’s okay to be creative when participating in class and making changes to increase participation as well! #Learnlap
