Played with structural learning bricks for my Research Project today as a way of practising making inferences, picking out short quotes, using subject terminology (and tracking) to answer a character question for An Inspector Calls #structurallearning#paulmain#teamenglish
When a load of your lower set Yr8s ask whether they can sit and do their apostrophe homework during wet-break today instead of sitting and having a gab with their friends...who are you and what have you done with my kids?! ππ€£
Looking for new ways to make teaching ambitious punctuation a little more fun for my classes. The numbers next to the explanations correspond to the example sentences on the pull-out arrows. #teamenglish#englishteacher#punctuation
Lower set Yr8 worked on their Word Wheels this afternoon. They used a thesaurus to find ambitious synonyms. In the Independent Ten task, pupils were challenged to use a word from each colour segment and implement it into their description of a Gothic setting. #teamenglish
My Yr11s needed a good revision of sentence structures so lo and behold the Sentence Structure Jigsaw. I think this would work brilliantly with word classes and literary devices as well! #englishteacher#teamenglish#sentencestructures
Finally taught my #poundlandpedagogy lesson using cable ties for venn diagrams and playing cards to ensure concise analysis of quotes. Pupils were comparing Macbeth and Banquo's reactions to the Witches in A1S3. #englishteacher#macbeth#teamenglish
Busy creating vocabulary wheels for my bottom set Yr8 who will be describing a Gothic setting tomorrow! Pupils will use a thesaurus to fill in their wheel with the challenge of coming up with their own adjective! π»ππ± #englishteacher#teamenglish#creativewriting
No Pen Day - Macbeth revision dice game to initiate discussions on key themes, symbols and motifs in the play. At the end of the lesson, we discussed which topics were easy and which ones they struggled to explain (and tackle them further with revision) #macbeth#teamenglish
Practised creating some cable tie venn diagrams + playing card notes (for concise analysis) for my Poundland Pedagogy challenge! My year 10s will compare Banquo and Macbeth's reactions to the Witches. Teaching this next week! π€ #poundlandpedagogy#englishteacher#activelearning
