Iβd love to see some D&T success stories from this summer! My timeline is flooded with successes in Maths, Science, English, Humanities.. has the DT community left #edutwitter ? The reduction of the subject in schools is also a huge concern of mine. #dtchat
One of my favourite concepts yet. I named this project: Measure twice, cut once. Provided students with a set of drawings, measurements and instructions. They designed the middle part using 10mm strips of plywood. An excellent test of so many skills! #dtchat#designtechnology
Going to start sharing work again! Last half term with the Y12s (AQA D&T: Product Design).
Mini project: concrete base, flexible plywood arm, mostly PLA shades but some acrylic too. A lot of learning and a lot of fun! #dtchat
First time delivering this project since 2021 and itβs had some changes. With some scrap plywood, the students were challenged to create a design with 10mm strips. Hereβs one outcome. Nailed it! The pewter is a cultural symbol from New Zealand. #dtchat#designtechnology

Our other Year 8 project is the Wind Chime (nature theme, laser cut or coping sawed MDF or Acrylic, aluminium chimes and a pewter weight). Also proud of this, but tying the nylon string is the bit the students find most challenging. Looking for an alternative. #dtchat#designtech
I canβt believe itβs been so long since I shared photos of our wind chime project (y8). Conception to reality - I love this one. #dtchat#windchimeproject
Project 2 from half term 2: candle holder 2 ways. An opportunity to have a go on the wood lathe and practice wood finishes and also work with sheet aluminium, practicing riveting polishing. Such creative outcomes again #dtchat#designandtechnology
Proud of how this year 8 project has evolved since we started teaching it #dtchat (lap jointed pine, line bent and laser cut acrylic in an Art Deco pattern and aluminium sheets bent in a jig and then screwed to the frame).

@AQA hi, please can you update your GCSE and especially A Level NEA examples? I know there are some on TOLS but the PDFs have the pages split in half. Some full scale, high quality copies would be appreciated. They havenβt been updated for years. A/A* level ones would be ideal!
